Here in the south of England we have been suffering from what the weather men call a "flought". We have had very little rain for 2 winters and as most of our water is obtained from groundwater abstration we are on hosepipe bans and drought restrictions. Only because it has rained continually for a few days we now have flooding....we don't collect rainwater - it all runs off to the sea so we can have weeks of rain and still have a drought....
confused yet?
Apparently we need it to rain continually untill September to fill up our water supplies. That should see off Wimbledon and the cricket!

You can send rain our way! It's 116 degrees and no rain in sight. Monsoons don't start until sometime in July. And even then, we are lucky to get any rain.

We had one day of rain in 3 wks...unusual for FL...we usually have 5 or more inches a mnth...so far we're 20" behind on the yr. It's only June....at least it watered the lawn for a few days...(and the frogs and mosquitos LOVE it...)

We live in the subarctic "desert". We are not supposed to get any rain. All of our precipitation is supposed to be snow in the winter. I do not like rain. It was supposed to be one of the "bonuses" to living here.

We have had a lot of rain the past month. It pours every weekend.

I read somewhere that if it rains the first Sunday of the month, it will rain 3 out of 4 Sundays of that month. Well, guess what. It poured yesterday.

Old farmer tales I think.

DH and I think that we cause it to rain here everytime we go to a outdoor concert at the area Ampitheather. One week ago we went to see Styx and had a downpour with winds, hail, thunder, lighting and tornado warnings!!! Last night we went and it started to rain midway through the first artist (Blonde followed by "NEW" Cars). We where lucky enough for both concerts to be under the roof of the Ampitheather and didn't get wet.
Right now it's a beautiful 69 degrees and the sun is shining and a gentle breeze blowing, perfect day to hang out the wash!!!
My flower beds are full of nice GREEN plants but nothing is blooming yet!!

We had to turn the heat on yesterday, it was too cold, damp and windy to be even close to comfortable.

BBBrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

It's sunny and warm here. We've been getting some thundershowers in the evenings. The corn in our garden is about 5 feet tall now. Our zinnias are green, but no blooms yet.
We just opened the pool. I'm sure in a month or so I'll be wishing for cooler weather like some of you up north have.

Sheri - You are mean to have sent your rain down to us! At this moment I am wondering if I should turn the computer off as we are having a thunder storm (3rd today) and should hail any minute. I absolutley refuse to turn the heat up as 2 weeks ago I could hardly breathe d/t the heat. I don't mind rain, having grown up on the west coast, but I had a garage sale this past weekend and hardly sold anything. I am never going to have another :whacky: It was so much work for so little results. I have kept everything outside under tarps as I refuse to bring anything back into the house. After I finish reading the letters here I am getting on the phone to see what charity will want what. I know many are overwhelmed with garage sale left overs (very popular here) so will phone ahead and have to deliver myself.
Unfortunately Sheri, as I listen to the weather reports both you and I are in for more wet weather. Only good thing about it is that it is stalling the forest fires which will be bad this year d/t so many many many dead diseased trees. We will soon be a desert like you.

If I sent it to you why is it still here.

The kids had inside recesses today. So now they are happily outside splashing in mud puddles. I thought hey homework schmoework cometimes you just need to get wet.

It is supposed to clear here tommorrow. After the snow.

Wish we had rain here. My yard has almost turned into the Grand Canyon! The soil is so dry it really has splits all over the place. Deep cracks. We are on water restrictions and everything is burning up. I use my indoor waste water to water my plants I have outdoors. No rain in sight for us. Gena, in a dry hot TX

I could never bring myself to ask the rain to go away. I adore it far too much. Sometimes it rains every day for a week here in Oregon and I never find myself complaining or desiring sunshine. I greatly prefer rain and fog to sunshine and clear skies. I love the sound of rain falling on my roof as I sleep at night. I love walking in the rain. Just standing outside in the rainfall is captivating for me. I enjoy being wet.

Did any of you see that film called The Fog? Not a very good film, but the scenery was definitely worth the watch. It was filmed in Oregon and the fog is just amazing. The fog over the Oregon coast is gorgeous.
