I've been here some time, written lots of posts, and read even more. I've used a computer all my life, and I know the codes (LOL, ROTFLMAO, BTW, GNA, etc.) I just can't figure these out - and I know I will feel like an idiot when someone tells me what they mean. DG (Somthing Daughter?) DS (Somthing Son?) DH (Something Husband?) DGD (something Grand-Daughter?) Aghhhh . . . there are more . . . . Usually the "D" stands for dear sometimes it is a "D" word that isn't so nice (but I would never say that)

I can't bring myself to use the abbreviations so I just write " son" or "Daughter" or "Ma in law" - hidebound that''s me

What's GNA? I knew all the others but stumped by this one. More than likely, I'll say, "Duh" when I found out......... - Maureen.

having been in the forefront of most of the online acronyms...(I worked for what used to be Qlink/Quantum Link...which is now AOL. I've been a web freek for 21 yrs now...) I've seen peoples language go from bad to worse online. I donno..I touch type and I STILL type out the whole word, unless I'm tired or I just don't feel like typing anymore. (like yr, yrd, gonna, etc) GNA is good night all... afk away from keys.... brb be right back of course back in the 80's there was NO cussing online. It got you kicked off and your acct. pulled. But we managed anyway..a**...and we had buffers that held what you were typing, so we used counting systems to make pictures...and the old ;D, ;X, ;p > :( :o) etc... Makes me feel old to have some kid tell me he was 7 in the 80's on Qlink and his Commodore was his first computer... Chrys

For awhile I thought everybody had "Divorced Husbands" Hah! Glad some of you could explain this stuff. Now if I could just figure out what my family was talking about...... Brandy~ |

I work indirectly for the Government/Military. Government contracting is acronyms all over the place! We've got APP's, EPP's, CQC's, PM's, TL's, aghhhh! The ones from online I had down, lmao, lol, brb, bbl, gne1, etc. I just wasn't making the connection with the DD, DH, DS, etc. Thanks everyone!
