So, I was having these huge doubts about everything and decided I am gettin a second opinion.

I have cancelled my Lupron Shot for tomorrow and will seek a new GYN.

The 1st GYN told me that Laproscopy was not necessary, and that I should just get the injection, which he told me had little to no side effect. That was not true - as I have read all the horror stories!

He prescribed me a med for osteoporosis, so he said, that turned out to be add back therapy (HRT) for the Lupon. Per the nurse I called with questions.

He failed to tell me about the 1500 MG of calcium and Vitamin D I needed to take, per the nurse I called with questions.

The nurse then informs me that it is the Pharmacy's responsibility to check for drug interactions - and the Pharmacy tells me they cannot check interactions without an Rx - the Lupron is done at the GYN office, so I had no script!

Something just doesn't wash here, so I am postponing the injection until I talk to someone else.

I think the laproscopy should be done to confirm the endo before treatment - at least that is what I have been told by several people.

Anyone here get the injections without confirmation of Endo through Laproscopy?

Butterfly I think getting a 2nd opinion is a very wise choice.

Me too...somethings funny about the Dr and not telling you things...
Dr's who don't tell, don't listen either...

[[[ ]]] Good luck on your Dr hunt... (my sister prefers young women gynocologists...says they listen and they're usually nicer than men...I second that.)

I agree, 2nd opinion! Personally any doctor that won't answer my questions, give me answers very up-front is done in my book. I guess I feel it is my body, I pay their salary, so I have the right to be heard, to have all my questions answered, and to feel very comfortable with all the decisions.

As for a woman GYN - YES! I had so many male GYN's that left me feeling that they only gave 1/2 answers, or pushed aside my problems. When I found a woman GYN we got to the root of the problem, she always listened, she understood, heck for me she'd been there  we were about the same age too! After I had such great luck with a female GYN - now I realized all my girl friends go to female GYN's  They say the same thing, they listen, they answer the questions, they have been there!

Good Luck!

I have an appt. to see a new female GYN on July 5th. But, due to the wait, I was bedridden all day yesterday when my cycle finally came around again.

One more month, one more month, one more month, I can make it!

Butterfly, you are wise to get as many opinions as you can. It is disturbing that your Doc. is not as helpful as you like. Mine put me on the lowest dose HRT he could. Since Lupron is associated with a loss of bone density in a small percentage of cases (6% maybe, can't remember that number) and I was already on another med. that also decreases bone density, synthroid, I was sent for a bone density scan and upped my intake of calcium but taking supplements. My ObGyn also told me that there is a small risk of cervical cancer with Lupron so I am very careful to always keep up with my annual checkup and Pap smear - something we should all do anyway. I was never able to verify the cervical cancer risk on any internet site.

I went to see my new doctor - and boy was I impressed! She has me scheduled for diagnostic laproscopy next week!

She also disagreed with the "other" doctors analysis, and explained why.

She also said, unlike other doc, that laproscopy shoul dbe done during the cycle and that way it is much easier to detect the endo, as it shows up black n blue (because they bleed).

She said she was also going to look for a lesion from my emergency apendectomy a few years ago - if there is one - she is going t osnip it out. That may also cause problems if attached to the uterus.

She also corrected the "other" doctor, I do NOT have an inverted uterus, I have a retroverted uterus. Big difference, as the endo in pulling the uterus down and causing lots of bowel problems as well (and I thought it was low fiber). I also have veryyyyy low blood pressure, but am not anemic per the blood tests.

I'm very happy with her. I am so glad I went with my gut instinct. She was informative, friendly, talked me through everything, including ALL my options. Including the b-control pill, which the other doc didn't even mention!

I also saw the coolest thing ever. She carried a 8 x 10 screen, like a PDA, with a pointer, that was her computer. Everything the asisstant put into my electronic file, showed up in her hands. She kept electronic notes the entire time.

Technology!

I am much happier with a woman doctor. I am sooooo glad I went with my gut instinct.

I'll let you all know how it goes. I think the laproscopy is next friday, or the one after. Depends on when my cycle comes round.

Thanks for all the support!
