The pics aren't exactly in the order, but I think it's pretty clear. Ok, first cut 2 pieces of tulle twice the length you want the final length (mine was 12" so I cut it 24". You use the whole width. I suppose if you were making one for a way larger child, you have to have side seams. Lay them flat on top of each other and sew on ribbon or other adornment on bottom. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/NatalieF/DSC03286Small.jpg Then fold the tulle in half to make it the 12". This gives you 4 layers of tulle. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/NatalieF/DSC03287Small.jpg Sew a casing along the folded edge a bit bigger than your elastic (I used 1/4" elastic and about 1/2" casing. Insert elastic. Add confetti or other embellishment between the sewn together layers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/NatalieF/DSC03288Small.jpg Now sew the back seam together and it's done. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/NatalieF/DSC03289Small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/NatalieF/DSC03290Small.jpg babyandbeyondboutique.com

Hi Do you have photos for the layered puffy tutus and instructions. I want to make that one for my baby's b-day. I know some people cut strips and sew them. I just don't know the process for the layered tutus. Thanks so much. I rather pictures since pictures are worth 1000 words . It is just easier for me to understand. Hi, I have purchased 4 yards of tulle, It is not cut up. Straight from the bolt. So how do I determine how much do I cut for the width? Is there a formula for the lenght and width and or width? I want to make my baby a 8 inch long tutu. I want to make one of these that you posted and a layered one. If you can help please email me at <email address removed for privacy> . I prefer photos. Since I am a novice sewer and pictures speak better to me. Thanks so much. <email address removed for privacy> |

well those are the pictures for the layered one. If you want it 8" long when finished, you'd cut it 16" long and use the full width. So you have your fabric with the fold, then measure down 16" and cut off. Do that twice. When you open it up you have a piece basically 16" x 90 (if the tulle is 45" wide. Then you lay the 2 pieces on top of each other and go by the pictures I have posted above. babyandbeyondboutique.com

Sorry, I guess I meant to ask for the other kind of tutus that are really full, I guess I don't know what to call them. But thanks anyways. Your photos are of great help. I will try to figure it out. |

I think someone else posted about how to make the ones that are strips. Maybe do a search.

I've never made one of the fuller tutus however I have noticed there is a super stiff kind of tulle. I would think that kind of tulle would make the tutu fuller Liz |
