I finally finished it. I left the top open, so he could choose to put his own fish in there, it's interactive, LOL. He loved it, wanted to wear it right then, but I told him it was for our vacation. Feliciahttp://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j213/kdgteacher/MVC-017S.jpg

The pictures aren't that great. It is a bright yellow shirt and the plastic is clear, not cloudy. I hate my camera, LOL.

Felicia - I'm so excited you finally finished it!It came out super cute. Still not sure how you're gonna wash it but its cool!!! I would love to make something like this for my son - I know you shared how you made it before...would you mind if I semi-"copied" your idea? He saw the picture and wants a mermaid(?) shirt. I told him maybe a sailboat one.... :dave:

Of course you can copy it...I thought that is what this website was for to share ideas and feed off of them, LOL. Thanks for all the nice comments.

Adorable outfit. You did a great job on it. What did you use for the fish bowl?

I showed the picture to my DGS. He wants one with a race track. I will have to think about that one!

Felicia, that is too cute!! I'm sure I'll be making one too-as soon as my grandson sees it! Does it wash up ok? Is that seam binding you have around the fish bowl?

Yes, it is binding and plastic tablecloth fabric for the fishbowl. He hasn't worn it yet, b/c I am saving it for vacation, but I made something similar last year and I hand washed it and it was fine. I had to put binding around it to make it glide underneath the needle, the plastic kept sticking, so I had to think of something to use :nc:
The racetrack seems like a neat idea...you could cut it like a track, like a curvy road, just a tad bigger for a car to fit through, sew it and leave the ends open to put in and take out the car as needed.
Right now I am working on a frog one, cute frog fabric shorts and then I am put a log on the shirt, then putting the plastic over it with the frogs inside. I also have some plastic flies I may try to use. Felicia

You got me thinking about the racetrack. Make the shirt front with the garage to hold the car. Applique the racetrack down the legs of the pants. You could use RTW pants (I'm lazy and hate making pants when you can buy them so cheap), and rip out the inner leg seam, do the applique and sew them back up.

Is that the very same Fish Shower Curtain I have? LMAO. My son and I were talking about turning it into shorts and a swim suit for him!

To cool - I love it!

Butterfly -
I took the fish off of that very same fabric and, along with some shells and mermaids from other fabric, appliqued them on to some great blue and green tie dye knit and made a shower curtain too!!

That is so cute! You could make a jar on a shirt too and fill it with plastic bugs or creepy crawlies. I've seen some bug toys that glow in the dark. That would make fun pajamas  Or how about a snow globe for Christmas? :dave:
I hope your vacation is coming up soon so your son won't have to wait long to wear his new shirt.

Actually, I bought a Fish shower curtain for the kids bathroom years ago - we did it all up in fish - and now I am using it to make swimsuits, as it is a great water fabric.

That fabric is identical to the shower curtain I bought. I got a giggle out of it - and wanted to know if there is fabric out there that looks the same, or if someone else had the same idea to take the shower curtain and turn it into something else.

I love th outfit, wish my son was little again. The shots/trunks I am making for my son are long, below the knee, aghh teenagers! An he would die if I made a shirt to match!

And may I say this small prayer, Lord, that Axe and Bod disappear from store shelves everywhere, or teen boys under 16 are restricted from buying it? My entire house smells like a body spray factory . . . . . Amen.

Your fish outfit is too, too, cute! I have a DGS that I would love to make it for. Did you just make this up or did you have a craft instruction sheet to tell you what to do? Makes me want to run right down to my sewing machine!
