Living in NE Alabama lately has started feeling like living in H*** Today it was in the upper 90's and one city reached 100. It usually doesn't get this hot until late July or August. Working in my garden this a.m., I was drenched in about 2 minutes. But I stuck it out and got the chores done I needed to. It is also SOOO dry. WE need rain terribly bad. How about where any of you live? What are the conditions there?

Yes, it was like an oven here today. :nervous: I hope it rains soon. Hubby has been watering our garden, but if we don't get rain soon I'm sure the water board will put a ban on watering.

It's definitely an oven here! And we have a huge fire going about an hour and a half north of me, burned over 2000 acres already and they have evacuated about 400 homes. No rain in site and the "official" high is supposed to 113 the rest of the week.

We're already in 'drought conditions'...water even/odd, after 9 PM, not during the day. No car washing, NO burning of anything. (yeah like thats gonna stop all the idiots who buy fireworks and set them off every weekend, no matter what). We're 30" behind this yr already...it's been high 90's, low 100's.
I'm afraid to wish for water...we might get what Houston's getting....just a nice gentle rain every day for about 2 hrs for the next 6 mnths...and temps about 72...(hahahahahahahahahahaha.... has h*ll frozen over yet ???) :bolt:
We had NO spring...went from fall right into summer. Not much of a winter either.... :nervous:

Shelby county has already put a ban on watering. It thundered a few times here and I prayed for rain but none not even a drop. Good thing I filled the pool up a few weeks ago and the kids arnt begging to play on slip and slide. I also think I could handle a firework fire last week we had 15 firesset in one week.I had the kids so I couldnt go help (volenteer fire fighter) so I just made trips back and forth in the car with water for the others to drink while kids slept in car seats. Hope all of you have a safe and healthy holiday.

Rain & thunderstorms most of the week. But the humidity is miserable. My AC has been going on all night long, as well as this morning -- which is unusual. It's supposed to cool off tonight and lose the high humidity. Thank goodness for ceiling fans & AC! I don't mind rain every few days, but day after day gets out of hand, since the kids can't swim when it is thundering or lightenting.

Have a great day! Stay cool!

Oh ha de ha ha - what's HOT?? It's not a word I'm familiar with as it's 10 degrees, howling gales and horizontal rain. I was in the garden at 5.30 am chasing the garden furniture cover before it took off and caused a hazard to aircraft.

My daughter is poorly and is sat on the sofa shivering - I may have to crank up the central heating.

While sat at my desk I was watching the commuters coming out of the train station, huddled up in their coats and scurrying along as though it were March!

Send me some nice weather girls - PLEASE :nervous:

The weather here is just like it is in the Winter, changes every 15 minutes!!!!
1:30 AM last night I think the "ANGEL BAND and LIGHT SHOW" where parked right over our house for "FIVE" straight hours!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is now 10:00 AM the Temp is now 77*with a Heat Index of 82* and Humitity at 80*, and I see that Chicago is already under Storms and Warnings so it should be here by 3:00 PM today.
They are showing live news pics on the TV about areas West of Cleveland that got hit with the same storm system, and now they are flooding. Cedar Point is under water, funny it sits on a point of land that jets out into Lake Erie. The surrounding areas to the Point are all under water!!!
They are calling for conditions like this with the storms for the next 3 days. At least I don't have towater my new plants!!!!!!!

My goodness ladies haven't you ever heard of doing a "Raindance"? LOL :nervous: It's been in the high 90s here for quite a while but today, thankfully, we're getting a little rain.

It has been hot and humid here but we have been getting some much needed rain here. Just wish there was more. Hopefully they say we will get some more this afternoon and maybe some thunderstorms.

Last night we had Tornado warnings & there was a yellow glow all over the sky for about 1 1/2 hrs. TOday has been nice, just one short sprinkle & not as humid.

Patsy:

I've been threatening to do a "Naked" raindance in the front yard if it would help, but hubby frowns on that. We are already having to feed our cows hay as we have very little grass in the pastures. I just went outside a few minutes age to weed some of my garden, and it did rain for about 2 mintues.
It was so glorius I didn't even come inside, just walked around in it. But it is now gone and it feels like a sauna out there.

This is California. The weather report here will be SUNNY in the 100s for the next 6 months. We got to 120 on some days. The plastic pens I left on the patio would just melt.

Okay I lied. Maybe SUNNY in the 100s for the next 5 months.

Joanie--I was raised in Alabama and am now in GA (right on the Alabama line though) and I totally understand what you are saying..however, we did get some much needed rain last night complete with a lightening show and thunder! I agree that the hot weather is here a bit early. I figured since we didn't have a terribly bad winter that the summer would heat up quickly.

Weds and Thurs. we had very bad storms here in Northeast Ohio- even stronger ones in Northwest Ohio. There where three Tornado's that touched down in the state yesterday, two just to the County right below us. A Fireman was killed while trying to save two teenagers that drove their car into flood waters. Another teen was killed when a tree branch fell onto his tent, it also hit his buddy who was seriously hurt.
We have had flooding in areas that NEVER flood!!!! One town had a entire Saw Mill get washed away from the overflowing River that is ( or was ) next to it. Trees are down on top of Houses, Trailers, Streets, Businesses, and power is still out in many areas since Weds. and they don't look to have it back on until late Sunday.
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has a Tour Train that was stuck because of the flooding in the Valley, they had to take boats in to get the people off the train. Two years ago this same Train had miles of track washed out from flooding.
This is going to be one wild and crazy Summer with the weather.

Our weather here is not too bad and should be pretty good tomorrow night when I get to go see Dr. John at the Syracuse Jazz Fest.
You hear that Suzie -- are you out there?
Dr. John, right here in upstate New York!
I'm so excited.

Your naked rain dance must have worked in Westover today Joanie. LOL! It rained so hard here it knocked out our direct tv and phone line. I still dont have a phone. When it started raining I looked out side the window and could not even see my van about 15 feet away. I dont think it has rained that much in months. The kids and I sat on the sofa and fell asleep. THey took a nap yeah! Hopefully it will rain for the rest of you soon. good luck all.

Last night , my cousin and his wife and 2 visiting grandsons were at the dinner table in the midst of a pouring rain and thunderstorm and lightning struck their home , started a fire and by the time the fire dept. got there the house was too far gone to save anything.. They live in the country .. Laurens County , S. C... They got the vehicles out of the garage, his wallet and keys.. But , they are unhurt, so we are very thankful.. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.. They are insured, but I don't know what they will have to do til they get everything settled and find new temporary shelter. We are very thankful they are OK..
