That is beautiful.. I love the skirt. Very nice job.
I aspire to become brave enough to make myslef someting.. right now I will stick to making the kids and hubby clothes, but I sure am building quite a beautiful fabric stash for when I do find that perfect pattern, lol.

That looks gorgeous Dorothy! It's a shame she won't be showing off your handiwork more. I'm not a huge fan of those tiered skirts either, but it looks like you did a great job with it! Very professional. She is so lucky to have a mom like you to make her such a beautiful dress.

I'd rather not be at the wedding than try to pay for one right now.
Hopefully they will have a big reception type party when they get back. Then I can make me a beautiful new outfit too -- one with no gathers.
When we thought it was finished she tried it on and the top -- which fit perfectly until I put in the lining -- gaped center front.
I snatched it up and sewed a strip of invisible elastic for a couple inches down the front. Instant ruching!
It took care of the gape and looks great.
I'm going to make me a big, fun comfy night gown as soon as I get all that silver fuzz out of my machine!
Then I am going to see Dr. John at the jazz fest.

Hey Dorothy.....Great job with all the tiers. Yes, you definitely deserve to sew something really nice for yourself after the wedding elopement dress.

That is one nice dress and cap. It's obvious there's a lot of love and labor went into that skirt. Don't worry about the wedding, it'll come. My husband and I had to save for a year before we can afford one.

Good luck to the young couple!

I think it is very pretty Dorothy. I happen to like ruffles and tiers and wish I were taller so I could wear them - tho don't like making them. I really like the top (jacket) with the skirt. It is very flattering and now. Congratulations.

mozeyrn,
Her new husband works for his father in the family jewelry store. She has a rock as big a Texas on the left hand. The one on the right hand (yeah, she's got two of them) is slightly smaller, more the size of Nevada. She has been showing off for a while now.
I'll throw the party if she doesn't. You will all be invited.
They say it will be disastrous if the families get together since his father is a very religious right wing Republican and I'm...well...not.
This is all very sudden. But I guess that's better than dwelling on it.

Well, what they are forgetting that inlaws can become (even) friends when they love their children. Differences just don't seem that important.

I wish all of you guys all the best.

Dorothy,
You did a great job on the dress. It's beautiful. Guess they saved you a lot of $$ by eloping instead of the traditional church wedding. Now, go splurge on something special for yourself with all of that money you saved.
Happy Stitching!

Congratulations Dorothy on both. You did a beautiful job on the wedding dress, and now you have a new son-in-law! Soon, those babies will be popping out all over the place!!!! Then you'll have lots of fun little things to make.

If me and my wannabe Pastor hubby and I can organise a pagan wedding Dorothy I am sure you will survive your inlaws in the spirit of tolerance. We are having the outlaws round to a BBQ this weekend in what is turning into a family tradition - we go to them Christmastime - they come to us summer...
throw that party and have fun. we are on a race as to who has the first Grandbaby...(mine better be a year off or things will be tricky... both still got a year at Uni to go)

Jan am I hearing Grandbaby from you? Yipppppeeeee all those knitted booties are going to be wild with your sense of humor. Poor baby will probably be wearing kidneys on top her booties instead of bows. :dave: "Welcome back Susie"

It's under the UserCP , which is at the top left hand side under the header which tells you which forum and thread you are in. Go to Edit Options, and about 1/2 way down under messages and something or other, you can change how you are notified.
