Stephi - The Bible can be tricky. It's the version you use that makes the difference. I read it once with the Amplified Version, once using the Message. The Message was so neat! Yeah the youth pastor at our church tried to deter me from reading front to back but I am almost done with the old testament part so little less than half way. I am anal and I want the story in sequence. My grandmother inlaw got the message for christmas and loves it...I plan on stealing it from her when she is done. This is so much fun! Looks like nobody unties thier shoes to take them off.

Tattoos -- nope, never. I truly admire them on other people -- within reason -- shoulders, ankles, etc. But, I have a friend who did one on her ankle and her sister on her toe (a spider). They both told me it was the most painful thing ever -- beyond childbirth. I hate pain -- so no way. I had a very nice henna tattoo once. It lasted for 6 weeks and was so totally awesome. I received many compliments on it too. It was summertime, so after it faded, the area where it was, wasn't tanned. So it still showed for weeks after that. Peggy

A lot of people do not like tattoos. For me they are artwork. I am extremely artistic. I take no offense to anyone that would not have one - each person is an individual and creative in their expression, in their own ways. Each of mine represents a part of me, the Butterfly that wants to spread it's wings, the Gecko, my totem, for strength, and my Cross - I carry my cross on my back the same as my savior did for me. I love how unique and individual we all our - yet we all still have the same obsessions - sewing, quilting, etc.! I dont have any tatoos but I have always wanted a blue skink on my back side right at the top of my pelvic bone (that nice fatty area). I watched my friend get hers done and it turned out so nice. She has a horse with its head turned over its back and roses along the bottom. Its not the whole horse just the top. I love it but its too big for me (about 4"x6"). oh names, oh many of us didn't like our names! I didn't like mine for years, although I was the only Laura in my school - I actually hated being so different. My oldest I named Danielle - when she went to school there were tons of Danielle - many with even the same middle name - Marie. She liked being able to find things at stores with her name on it, but hated having the same name as everyone else. My 2nd is named Janelle Sheree - now it is rare she finds anyone with either of those names, and we have yet to find anyone with them together! She hasn't found her name on anything in a store, somedays she has found it frustrating, but she says she likes that she is the only Janelle in her whole school! I remember I wanted to change my name when I was a teen but for the life of me now I can't remember what I wanted to change it to as life has moved on I'm okay with the name now guess it finally grew on me after all these years. Its funny to see so many Laura's online now! I've seen several here! When I was in school there was allot of Lori's not Laura's.

Try being Roberta. My family called me Robbie for the longest time. By grade school I changed it to Robin - I just couldn't deal with the other kids picking on me. I got to grade school and there was a boy in my class named Robbie - I decided then and there I needed a new nickname. Everyone now knows me as Robin. Some have no idea my real name is Roberta. I have only known one other stephanie but she spelled it different. Her last name was Johnson and mine was Jackson so the asst principal mixed us up all the time ( I got introuble alot so me an principal where good buddies). In elementary school full house was the show to watch and I looked just like the Stephanie on there, especially when my grandmother curled my hair so I got alot of the stephanie tanner remarks back then. I named my daughter Ella because it was a name you just didnt hear any more and when I went into the docs for her 2yo shots there was another baby named Ella in there...Made me so mad!!!  But we are thinking about Eagan, Ethan, Ian, and Xavier for a boy and Reese or Eliza for a girl. I guess none of these are really unique anymore. Stephi

There were always other Barb's in school and at work. I also worked with a lot of Bev's & Becky's. My kid's are Andrea, Rebecca, Kimberly, Adam, Nathan, & Sandra. The only one who had kids with the same name in there classes was Kim. She had 6 different Kims in her high school freshman class & 4 of them had gym together. Sandy has a lot of teachers & parents with her name but we haven'y met another 14 YO. I always liked my name except when kids growing up called me Barbie & wanted to know where Ken was. (I never owned an actual "Barbie" doll.)

I never had a problem with people having the same name as me. I was teased a lot when we moved to the lower peninsula. Hey I got through it all. Never wanted to change my name either, I liked being different.

My Grandmother was named Eliza.. I used to wish that they had named me for her instead of the other Grandmother.. (Mary Elizabeth).. Most people called her Julia (other part of her name) , but my Granddaddy called her Liza most of the time and E-E-Eliza In loving or teasing moments... Those names were popular back then.. She was born in 1878.. I lost her in 1947.. I was 13.. Boy, Could that woman sew and quilt.. I have a Grandmothers Fan Quilt she made when I was 5.. It is pieced, not in squares. The fans were added onto muslin and sewn together in rows diagonally somehow.. It is still the most beautiful Quilt I ever saw.. (for the memories , I guess)

Casey.....if you had your tonsils out it indicates you were a child of the 50's when doctors took them out rather than treating the infection. That sounds barbaric.... I'm sure this same survey in a couple decades will ask a question like - If and where do you have a tatoo? Oh no, I have never had my tonsils taken out.. only medical anything I have ever had done was my E-C/S. I had tonsilitis so many times that my tonsils litterately rotted away.. kinda grose huh...lol |
