I am so irritated with my "fancy" potholders that fell apart very quickly. I am going to make my own. I plan on using a couple layers of terrycloth towel (I have lots of old ones) and that heat-resistant silver stuff, with cotton and flannel for the public fabrics. So these will be thicker than anything I've sewn with. Any tips on how to do a binding on such think layers? I have only done quilt with that Warm N Natural batting and even then I felt clumsy about my binding. Thank you, ladies! see the mundane life of a housewife.

Kelly - I've made potholder with terry (old towels) inside and I have made them with poly batting and would advise you to save the old towels for dish and dust rags and pick up some high loft batting and cotton fabric and give yourself a quilting lesson. I stippled. It was easy and the pot holders are lasting forever. Oh yeah -- make them big! Dorothy |
