I know we go through this every so often but I was wondering what everyone was working on right now. I just cut out a knitting needle organizer for my MIL. It's a fold-over style with gross grain ribbon ties. I found the pattern at Hobby Lobby and thought it was really pretty.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask and see what you guys were making these days! I'm trying to get back into my sewing after returning from our trip!

I am working on a few things at this time..

-strip skirt for myself.
-new diapers for my daughter (well, got them cut out at least)
-crocheting a pair of "leggy legs" (thats what my 4 yr old daughter calls them, she does not care for the term "baby legs" which is what her sister wears)... aka-leggins
-always making more baby wipes when I can.. love them scraps

Going to be working on as soon as I get the fabrics
-diapers for my sil
-diapers for a mama of twins (converting her to cloth, so proud, her babies are 19 mo old)

I'm really hoping to get motovated enough here soon to do something with the 83 YARDS (yes yards) of fleece I have.

I'm saving up plastic bags (grocery) to crochet a recycled grocery bag to put my groceries in.

Working on a flower girl dress for my DGD. Wedding is in August, so I have time. Fitted the muslin to her and it fit well. She is 3 years old but can still wear a 18 months clothing. So the smallest size was a 2 and I had to make it fit. So the dress is 18 months the length is a size 3. She is one tall skinny things.

Let me see, yesterday I cut out 2 pair of capris for DGD, 3 pair of shorts for DGS, sewed backings on 4 crib size baby quilts to be hand tied. I have more shorts and capris to cut out, and fabric for a couple sundresses for DGD. I DO envy all of you who talk about making tank tops and t shirts for the little ones, as I haven't ever made much with stretchable fabrics. ANY TIPS? NOW I need to start sewing....

Just finished a night dress and will be cutting out an eyelet lace shirt but I haven't decided on a pattern yet. Probably a camp shirt or shell. I just needed something that will look OK with my brown linen pants.

I am actually getting started on christmas. I made a VA tech polar fleece blanket for my BIL last night and have another to make tonight for my best guy freind. Then I am planning on making my two nieces outfits that will match one for my daughter. My father in law needs one of those remote chiar hanger things so thats in the line up too. My company allows pregnant women an additional week of vacation not including the maternity leave so I may take a week around thanks giving and sew sew sew. Of course if my boss keeps sending me home to work then I might get it all done sooner :dave: He cant stand puking...said something about being a sympathy puker so thats why he doesnt want me here getting sick, LOL!!

I'm sure you will get done before me, I have not even cut my bags to make the yarn yet. Just saving them up at the time. I have to get a big enough needle to crochet it too. & I cannot knit, want to learn so bad, but when I read things online, it just confuses me.

Hey, jumping back in to say...
I made today, a recycled jean skirt for my daughter.. she will not be able to fit it for a while, its a size 7 jean that her brother grew out of, had a HUGE hole in the knee.. so I made it into a skirt for her.. its adorable!

I seen someoen else (excuse me, dont know who) do that with jeans that were too small on the length but still fit the waist.. so simple, easy and so darn cute!

I'm kinda of working on a few things at one time :nervous: I've traced and am pin-fitting and altering 2 Burda dresses, 1 New Look skirt/top, Burda shorts - for me. Then when I get to the cutting stage (almost there!) I will also be cutting out (already traced) Jalie swimwear for my teen #2 dd, and a Simplicity Lizzie McGuire skirt for #3 dd. Then I have a stack of items to sew - it lets me do that 30 minutes of sewing whenever I want to set at the machines or those longer times too. I do this every so often - call me crazy :whacky:

I'm working on some fabric cut-out panel books, the one you cut the panels apart and sew the panels back-to-back with batting in between. But of course that was tooo simple :whacky: I just had to make it a little more challenging and stitch around all the characters and borders on each page before putting them together. I have 3 to make and I'm on the first one, still. But it seems to be getting easier and quicker.

Hopefully I will be starting my first sewing projects of 2006. They will be McCall 5089. It's an easy pattern and seeing it made in the May themed projects thread was so motivating. I've got the fabrics and notions ready, just need to trace the pattern. I hope to make more than one and just vary the details. I also purchased some shirred cotton fabric from JoAnn so I am sorta letting the fabric be the pattern......we'll see how that goes.

I have been on a sewing binge for the last week or so! i have made 13 pair of shorts, a bathingsuit cover up for Dd, & a sunsuit that was supposed to be done for a baby shower last summer (enlarged & finished today). I also mended 3 PR of pants for oldest DD, fixed hem in DGS shorts, restuffed a pillow & sorted some of my fabric to put in storage so I can move in the sewing room. I hope to get more done Sat morn. since all the kids are going to a movie. It always makes me feel good when I accomplish so much!

I am working on a pageant dress and a capri outfit for Elizabeth in two weeks. I took an old prom dress I had and cut it up for the top and for the lining of the skirt. I now need to head to fabric store and purchase some organza and fishing line. Alot of work ahead. I also have to make the sashes for the pageant. Sounds like alot. Guess I better get busy.

Dorothy, I loved that! "I was on a roll then life interfered"--SEW TRUE!

Last week I finished washable covers (16) for a neck heating wrap for my sis to use in her salon. Then 'life interfered' and the cutting table got covered with mail and anything else that was attracted to it (static electricty, you know). Now I've got to clean it off again and start sewing.

The line-up: bias skirt for customer; fleece poncho with sleeves for customer; batik rayon jacket for me; skirt for the cutting table and machine covers of matching fabric; clean the kitchen; clean the living room and parlor and den and bathrooms and bedrooms and sewing areas--all in the next 2 weeks (dad's coming to live with me). We also will be moving mom next week to a beautiful adult foster care home--and of course she doesn't want to go (Alzheimer's progressed to the point that she's not safe alone anymore)--very difficult decision and time for us.

And this coming week our ASG will be sewing for our charity, Angel House, a place that abused/neglected children will be temporarily housed and all needed services will be brought to them, from basic needs to health/psychological/counseling--you name it. They are just getting started.

And then the rest of life has to come along and be dealt with, too!

I finally finished the king size duvet cover for my master bedroom and now have three shams to do and I'll be finished with that project. Tomorrow our church quilt group is hosting an all day sewin; we have a lady coming to teach us the flip and sew method for doing the pineapple design placemats so, I've bought the fabric to start a Christmas gift for my SIL. Otherwise, I have a lot of general sewing to do for myself.

I have been sewing for my daughter and granddaughter. I made a pretty shrug out of a piece of lacey stretch fabric for my daughter and had enough left for a skirt for the granddaughter. Yesterday I cut out six plastic bag holders from left overs. Today I hope to get them serged up and ready to give away. I like to make useful things for the family and friends. My daughter is pregnant and will be needing some more clothes for work so that will be another project. There is a pair of boxers for a grandson that is going to be started as soon as the bag holders are finished. There is always something to do it seems. Last week I made a valance for my bathroom window and trimmed it with beaded fringe. It looks good and when I do something like this it makes me feel good too.

Well..... to go with the guts.....
I am now making/knitting/crocheting a model plant cell (cell wall, cell membrane, chloroplasts, nucleus and vacuole.) So far I have the cell wall and the chloroplasts done - and I may use one of those net bags you get oranges in to make the membrane - it is supposed to allow passage of molecules. The nucleus is easy - just another ball but I am a bit stuck on how to represent the vacuole. After that I have an animal cell to do - a lot simpler - just looks like a fried egg.
well, that was esoteric.

I may also try to make a body bag with a big zipper down the front over summer to put the guts in so we can play at surgery - I need a heart and some lungs though. More pink wool.
