Above is a link to a site I just found that others may find of interest. It is dated to 1942 but I think if you have a look you'll find the principles still apply and some of the styles illustrated are actually back in style.

Edited to say I've looked at this site some more and it is HUGE and there is way more on it than just pattern drafting. The site goal is to put together a reference library on all things sewing. It's amazing.
