For those of you who would like to give selling your handmade crafts/products a try just to get your toes wet www.etsy.com is an amazing online community that allows you to open up a store (free) and post your items ($0.10USD to list each). Etsy takes only 3.5% commission on each item which is minimal! I've been selling my handbags on etsy (http://www.sammade.etsy.com) since March and I really love it! I recommend giving it a look for sure!

Good luck!
Samantha

I would LOVE to get into this... have you been able to sell alot? Has it really increased your business? The major problem for me is that I do not have a credit card... have to look into that!
Do all to the glory of God!

I just got my first credit card -- mainly to be able to sell on etsy. I opened my shop in March and listed 9 items and sold 6 of them in a month (online and offline) -- then a bunch of personal stuff meant I wasn't able to post again until the end of June and things are getting back on track again slowly but surely. You have to promote yourself a lot online though in order to be successful just because you put your items in a store, doesn't mean they will sell especially because etsy is growing everyday and there is a lot of competition. It's an amazing online community to be a part of, I reccommend checking out the forums.

Me too! Thanks for the info!

I have so many crochet crafts I need to sell . . . . now that I've moved on to other things. Maybe this will be a great place to sell those afghans!

Hi I found this site the other day and have been reading a lot on it. It really does sound fun to be part of so I joined. This is my first post - is it in the right place?

My name is Diane I live in England. I am 54 have two grown children girl and boy and one absolutely gorgeous granddaughter who is now 1. Up until 9 months ago I was working in the legal world - which I had done since college. I was bored rigid so I decided that I would stay at home, do the books etc for my partner's business, have my granddaughter a couple of days a week to help with child care costs and hey the rest of the time would be my own to sew - its not really worked out that way!

I have always sewn, dressmaking, embroidery, quilting it you can sew it I just love it. I would love to be able to make some money with my hobby - hence my being in this area of the site.

I would love to hear your sucess stories - and a few tips as to where I should begin.

Best Regards
Diane.:bluesmile
