I made my first baby blanket (other than the easy flannel ones) and it came out so good. I bought that prequilted material and doubled it over then put pretty blue binding on it. I had me ladies at the sew shop embroider a blue B on one side and I put an airplane on the other. Its for a girl at my husbands work, and she loved it!! I have to admit it did come out nice  And it was fast and easy to make.

Now, you have to start thinking about making one for yourself........ One of the fun parts of pregnancy. Figuring out how you want to decorate your baby's room.

We actually painted the "spare bedroom" a pale yellow not oo long ago. My husband wanted to do orange and maroon (VA tech colours) But I told him that would be hideous and there wasnt any way that was happening. If its a boy I think I will trim it in blue and green stars, and if its a girl I will put pink and purple flowers in it. I love decorating so I really cant wait to find out what it is. I have already bought the nursery pattern set so I can make sheets and accesories to all match  I have made a practice diaper bag I use as a beach bag. Bottle pockets are perfect for sunscreen and sunglasses  I think on the next one I am going to try and make a pocket that I can slide a frozen bag into it to keep bottle cold. This will be a challenge, but I think will be nice to have in the long run.

Going this weekend to look at cribs and dressers!!

Couple of thoughts on cribs and dressers for you. From the warnings I've received, you don't use the convertible kind as long as they claim. I know it's designed to change from crib to toddler bed to big kid bed, but I've been told you don't end up doing that. Everyone told me to just use a normal drop-side crib for around $100-200.

On dressers, check Goodwill, we got lucky and found a perfect dresser for us there. We kind of figured it's going to be totally destroyed by the boys, so why get something fancy we'll worry about.

The big thing to splurge on is the glider rocker. You'll spend a lot of time in that with feeding the baby at night, so make sure it's very comfortable.

Of course, take all I say with a grain of salt, you may find the perfect crib for you and figure it all out in no time, I kept going back and forth. Just make sure you get it in time, my brother didn't get his until the baby was already here, and almost didn't have a place for the baby to sleep in when he was born. Of course he also was in a bit of denial that the baby was coming....... :nervous:

Oh well, either way they're fun, and will keep you busy.

ticia,

I hate those convertable beds, they look soo od when they change from crib to toddler bed. I am actually looking at one from target that has a drawer under it. My daughter used mine and it was pretty shaky so we threw it away after she got her toddler bed. I do still have her very nice toddler sliegh bed that I paid good money for. I was looking at those dressers that have the changing table on them..The kind that has a side that is higher than the rest then it becomes a regular dresser but unscrewing the ledge. The room I am using is about 8'x11' so I need long skinny furniture. We have plans to build up our house in about 3 years so baby or big sis will get a room and thier own bathroom upstairs. I have my glider picked out...It looks like a regular gentlmans chair with the high rolled sides and the head rest on the top of the sides...My MIL said she would buy it for me when I showed her the first ultrasound. It is soooooooooo comfy I want it now, LOL!!

Yeah, we're talking about what we're going to do for our boys in the next few months. We're going to move them out of their cribs, but we don't really know what sort of bed we're moving them into. Or for that matter what their room will look like (we know the room, just not the decorating style).

Yeah, that's the one thing I didn't really get that I wanted, but I do have a comfy rocking chair, just wish I also had a glider........ Oh well, I like my rocking chair.
