What's the best way to refinish a bath towel? Bought some 2 years ago and the edges are already raveling. New stuff is shoddy and that includes all price ranges! I have towels that my mother had and while they are threadbare from use, they haven't fallen apart. I can make a band for the lower edge, but how well does it work? Does it get scratchy with use? Thanks, Weezy |

I went around the outside edges with matching or contrasting thread in the serger. To some I added some fancy braid on each end above the new thread-covered edge. I have also put a binding, about 1" wide after folding on each end of some. In fact, on a couple I put the binding all around the towel. Looked nice! I even moonogrammed a couple. MariLynntex |

I've used matching binding on one towel and it's stood up to regular washing and tumble drying. It didn't get scratchy. They sell fancy towels in a large department store chain here where the edges are finished in some kind of wide satin ribbon - and they charge the earth for them! I suppose you could try that at home but I'd wash the ribbon first in case it shrunk. |
