http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/PrincessJenny/gabbysnewscarf.jpg I just learned how to knit about 6 weeks ago. I took a class at a wonderful small town knitting shop here in KY. It was so much fun. There were only 2 of us, so we got one on one attention and help. I have only learned to cast on, knit, and cast off so far, but hope to learn to purl soon. They have "open knitting" sessions twice a month or so were everyone just sits around and knits and talks. I am excitedly anticipating attending one soon. This is the first "big" project that I have made. It took me about 3 weeks to make. But I have steadily gotten faster. My dd #3 (who is 7) picked out the yarn she wanted, and is very pleased with her new scarf. Jen |

Well done you, that is quite a size scarf for a first knitting project. There are some fantastic fun yarns out there that make something simple into something special. Looks like you are hooked now (no, hang on , that is crochet )
love and kisses, Jan

Jen your scarf is very pretty, the model is pretty cute too. I taught myself to knit about 20 years ago but just didn't seem to enjoy it, however I have been crocheting for about 37 years and I love it. cshortsew

Jen.....I love the scarf! and your DD#3 is too cute - HOWEVER, I am concerned about dressing your daughter in purple with red accent pieces. So......... she may be seven but thinks like a 50 year old? Jen, just teasing you I can tell your daughter feels quite honored to be the recipient of your hard work. You will have so much fun knitting in a group. When my one son was in school, at the design studio there were a group of students known as the Militant Knitters. They took their knitting everywhere! What is too funny is they were hardly as radical as they seemed as they were tree huggers! Well, that could be seen as radical in corporate America. Patty

So......... she may be seven but thinks like a 50 year old? ROFL I hadn't even noticed that--But you are right!!!! Thanks everybody for your kind compliments. They are definitely encouraging!!! I would really love to learn to crochet, too. Maybe once I have this knitting thing down. PS: I can see myself as a tree hugging militant knitter- lol! I'm a vegetarian (for over 8 yrs) with a pierced nose--think I would fit the bill?!! lol! Jen |

Have you seen the bunch of guys and gals who go around leaving knitted graffeti? The attach multicoloured scarves to trees, and wing-mirror cosies and little hats on railings and lamposts and parking meters. Now THAT is militant knitting!

Very nice site. I bought some weird ribbon, I am going to knit a scarf with it just to say I did. Awesome colour combinations and it's a very soft nylon. I will let you know if this is successful, lol, it is easy to rip out if I don't like it.

LOL, I seriously doubt that. I love knitting and different wools but I am too impatient for results. The cuffs on a sweater can take me a year.
