Just returned from a week at the beach in Cape San Blas Florida. It was BEAUTIFUL! Only 15 minutes of rain the whole week. We went to St. Joseph Peninsula State park and hiked 7.5 miles to the tip of the peninsula. It was gorgeous. There were 50 foot dunes on the beach. We didn't see another soul the whole hike except for a boat passing by in the gulf. The only sign that other people had been there were the sticks and caution tape marking recent sea turtle nests. The hike in was easier than the hike back. The kids were always 100 yards ahead of us on the way in, but on the hike back they had slowed down a bit. We went kayaking in the shallow part of the bay. We could stand up when we wanted to and pick up starfish and hermit crabs. Even hubby who doesn't care much for the beach loved that day. DD and I collected lots of seashells and went swimming everyday. We watched dolphins from the beach almost every evening. We saw a huge sting ray one day. I swam about 4 feet from it before I saw it. DS met a girl his age there and went to a bonfire down the beach from us with her 4 nights in a row. It was a wonderful week, but I'm glad to be back home with our dog. I want to take her next time. There were lots of dogs on the beach there. It made me miss her more. Got to go unpack and do laundry. I'll try to catch up on the boards in a day or two. I hope everyone here is well. |

Yeah, most of the southern U.S. needs rain now. The dry weather made for a nice vacation though. We got a tiny sprinkle here last night, but not enough to count. Hubby watered our garden as soon as we got home. We met several people from Georgia and Tennessee down at the beach. The girl that DS took up with was from Wisconsin. We stopped in Panama City on the way home so the kids could shop. (Not much shopping in CSB). The cars were bumper to bumper. I remembered why I don't like P.C. Beach. On the way back to AL the traffic going south was also bumper to bumper with people headed to the beach for the 4th of July. Thank goodness we were heading north then. |

Well, Bama, you just added to my desparate need for the beach...around here in Cajun country, they'd say that I had an "envie." (pronounced awn-vee) So I called the agent in Navarre beach and asked her what she had open..I only wanted a few days but would take a week if reasonable...and whoopie...I'm going in two weeks...bringing lots of books, gin and tequilla for my G and T's and Margaritas...Hope we get your good weather, too.... |

Have a great time! Don't forget the sunscreen and mosquito repellent. I'm thinking thoughts of good weather for you. Hopefully the rain will come BEFORE you go. We actually got a little rain early this morning. |
