This past week I was going through some of my fabric when I came across a box of HRT's that a friend had cut and given to me. Along with it were strips of fabric and four blocks that were assembled into extremely unusual designs.

Being compulsive, I dropped everything else I was working on; the fabrics I felt were a bit putrid and not what I would normally pick (I have my own putrid sensibility as my daughter would say, "What? Brown again Mom?")

My challenge to myself was to somehow use these triangles into a quilt.
I've attached the URL for the picture of the HRT's and if you advance to the next picture you will see the quilt top that I came up with.

http://pelkovitch.photosite.com/Album2/box_of_hrts.html

What I learned: Any ugly fabric cut into small enough pieces isn't so putrid anymore - only color (and who doesn't love all the colors in the box of crayons?)

I still have 100's.....ssssss of these *&^&*(() and I promised my husband I would make him another Halloween quilt (he bought the fabric himself at Hancocks...... and I couldn't resist how cute he was about it.) So once again these suckers will be put away for another rainy day.

Wow Patty, that is amazing, you have quite an eye for putting fabrics together. I think I would have probably ended up tossing them too. You done good!

I would love to have some of the triangles. I have just started quiliting and love it. I didn't know if you were getting rid of them that way or not. You are very creative.

Thanks

Gayla...pm me your snail mail address...I'll send you triangles. Please when you piece them....you are going to have to square them off because these were hand cut and are not all exactly straight.

If Bama doesn't want the feedsack ones, I'll send those too....

I split all the sow's ear triangles between Gail and Lori, so my apologies for any of you out there who felt the urge to take on some of my sewing room mess

Patty,
I just got my package. It was so sweet of you to send it to me.
I was pleasantly surprised with the dresden plate pieces you included and thrilled with the larger cuts too. I LOVE the red fruit print.
Thank you so much!! I'm looking forward to making my own "silk purse".

Glad your parcel post finally made it. Don't be shocked when you open up a larger piece and suddenly see a hole in the middle......that was one of my kids (okay, won't give a blanket blame - it was my daughter Katy) experimenting with sewing  ......kind of like when they take your good scissors to cut wire.

Lori....my mail today had a surprise in it. How sweet and thoughtful of you. You really didn't need to do anything, but the colors are so pretty in the bundle you sent, that I can't wait to put it in my next project.

Again, thanks :dave:
