It's been raining off and on today, so besides picking peas and planting beans, I got the top finished for my husband's Halloween quilt (he picked out the fabric). All I need to do is embellish and quilt. I intend to embroider a spider's web in the upper left corner and then hang bones (fimo) and beads from the prairie points at the bottom. http://pelkovitch.photosite.com/Album1/Halloween.html I told my husband that it looks like his family reunion... bwhahahahahahaha I was going to embroider family names under the "guests", but he didn't look happy about it........ Now I just love that mad scientists fabric! What a great quilt! Personally - I dyed my hair while my husband watched the world cup - I think I got the better deal. love and kisses, Jan

Dorothy..... this was Alexander Henry Halloween fabric that was 70% off at Hancock. DH doesn't know, but I ran in during lunch one day and got the Melton Wool Coating at 80% off. I really need a transitional coat and I got the prettiest green. Oh.......I also found another 1/2 yard of the pig fabric in my stash if you would like it. Jan.......Hmmmmmm....you as the mad teaching scientist? Did you do blue with streaks? Patty

Awsome! All these threads with pics of beautiful quilting projects inspire me. Now, only if I could get insipred enough to actually 'try myself'... just not there yet. |

Wow, are you talented! I love it. Isn't it just the best when you go into the fabric store and find material you actually want for 80% off!? I went to Joann's yesterday and found some at 60% off. I have spent the 4th sewing and wondering how I can get the funds for a new machine. I retired last year and have really gotten back into sewing. Happy 4th to all. Molly |

Patty-- I guess I should hit Hancocks one more time before they close, huh? Thanks for the offer, but I think I have plenty of pig/lawyer fabric. I'm just going to toss together a pillow -- maybe with a little ruffle and take it to her when we go to the city for Labor Day. I almost signed up for a quilting class this summer -- but it costs $75 dollars and that seemed a little steep for me right now. Dorothy |

No, just the usual reddy brown - but I do have a picture of a hunchback throwing large switches on my prep room door, unleashing mighty forces and powers that I will not be able to control....
love and kisses, Jan

http://pelkovitch.photosite.com/Album1/spider3.html My husband had given me a spider pin years ago for Christmas, so I used it on his quilt; finally found a good home for it. I think the only time I ever put it on was to scare the kids I didn't bother binding it.....I did a decorative stitch around the edges, pinked it, and let it fray. I attached yarn, stones, beads, buttons to the prairie points at the bottom. Now I'm looking for a pair of skeleton hands to put at the top to look like they're holding it up when I hang it Patty

Great idea to add the spider. The hands would definitely be the icing on the cake!

Jan, a true woman of science, would test her students on the class of arachnid. My pin lost it's head a bit when I wore it to scare Katy and she fearlessly grabbed a pillow and whacked me a good one to save my life. Katy's empircal nature didn't allow for me to discuss whether or not it was real. Patty
