I am a bit confused and would like some help if possible. Here is what I did and what happened maybe someone can explain it to me.

I created a design using Autopunch saved it as an .xxx and opened it in my 3D Sketch software to add some finishing touches. Now something pretty cool happened. All those pesky side to side jumps stiches went away and were replaced with logical jumps. I saved the design with the changes I made and then opened it back up in my Futura software and those stupid jump stitches came back. I even tried saving it as different file extensions .hus etc. etc. and the same thing happens. Can someone explain why?

I am going to play with it some more and see if I can find the answer and I will post if I do.

Thanks!
Gina

The Artista software moves the stitches (logically) as you add, subtract, whatever from the design. It is possible that the second program recalculated everything according to "its" program. If you saved the program in that software I would have thought they would have stayed in place unless you reopened in the first software to do more editing?

Pudge I think Glory answered your question in the Futura Helping Hand Yahoo group.

Your issue is rather a complex one in the fact that you're transferring images between auto punch and the 3D sketch software that is designed for an entirely different machine than the Futura. The jump stitches probably always remained there but the 3d sketch software did not give you a realistic overall stitch view of the design. If you look at the stitch count, it probably always remained the same and that is the number that matters, not the view you are seeing.

Patsy,

Stitch count in 3D Sketch is 12822. Futura counts it as 12845.
Another design I created in Autopunch loads as 31167 in Sketch and 31521 in Futura.
A Futura stock design opens as 2102 in Sketch and 2112 in Futura.
A sample design that came with Sketch is 19722 in Sketch and 19827 in Futura.
A design that I created in Sketch is 5951 in Sketch and 6024 in Futura.
A .hus free design from the internet opens in Sketch with 4422 and in Futura with 4460.

There is quite obviously a stitch discrepancy no matter where the design was created.

Ultimately I could deal with the jumpstitch issue but this is more than jumpstitches. I am thinking that if I were to open a design in Sketch to remove some unwanted stitches I have no guarantee that Futura will agree on what stitches were removed.

UUGH! This is not my day! :throw:

Pudge what would happen if you autopunch, then load into Sketch and do cleanup and then run it back through Autopunch? I don't play a lot with Autopunch as I'm not currently into being frustrated with it. I've got so many designs that I've bought, other people have given me, etc., that mostly when I get ready to embroider, I have the design I want to use so I haven't spent very much time playing with the digitizing side of the software yet.
