Argh... my arms are killing me from stipple quilting, making a dinosaur applique quilt for the newest nephew (adopted , 18 months old and cute enough to eat, by the pix anyway, I haven't seen him yet in person, next month!!), almost done that part and then just straight lines and the binding sigh....

Are you sure it's from all the machine quilting....or could it also be a combination of quilting and packing/moving? When do you get to meet your new nephew? Patty

Been there, done that! Did you take any breaks? I try to take a break at least every hour - if I remember? It helps! But I'm sure the end result will be worth it.

Jeanette..... are you by any chance clutching your hands into a fist as you are trying to move the fabric under the needle of the machine? My shoulders were really starting to ache this past spring from my machine quilting and my son solved my problem by giving me sets of 3 lb free weights and exercises to do every night before I go to bed. Voila....shoulders fine, but my hands were swollen from the clutching fist part. I am very careful now to do exactly what Judy suggested, and that is to take a break from your work. Okay, my break's up Patty

my kids make me take the breaks, you know someone doing a high jump from the kitchen table etc, I think my problem is my table is too short and I'm hunched over too much, I'm not packing, the movers do that (military move, they pay for the packing too), but I'm damn sick of keeping this house in showing condition, I don't like cleaning at the best of times but it is almost done, I think I'll get to Toronto to visit sometime in August. Congrats on finishing your quilt. Great feeling of accomplishment, eh! BTW...you shouldn't be too far from a great quilt shop (The Running Stitch (http://www.therunningstitch.ca/)) and a great store to get cotton fabrics (Sew For It (http://www.sewforit.com/)) when you move. And there is a Fabricland across the street from The Running Stitch. These are in the neck of the woods that you will be moving to. And there could be others around but these are the ones that I know of and frequent fairly often! TTFN from

Congrats on your quilt and on your new nephew!! I started hand quilting my first quilt and it's been quite a job! Good luck on your move (from another military wife!)
