I have a pair of toddler pants that are finished (pretty much). I finished all the seams except the one that runs down the middle (crotch seam) - as I haven't figured how to do that. I don't have a serger, or pinking shears. Do I leave them, clip them. or try to put a finish hem on them.....which I could do easily by hand. Not helpful that they're pretty much finished either.

You could zig zag the seams together (like a serger) or seperate

I like flat fell in the crotch. It is stronger and looks good. But you kind of have to do that before you get the rest put together -- especially with something that small.

In the instruction sheets in some older sewing patterns, for the crotch seam, it will say to stitch your seam, then go back and stitch 1/8' away from the original stitching within the seam allowance. Thereafter you trim close to the second line of stitching. However, zigzagging the seam edge will lessen the raveling during the wash.

Yeah - I french seamed the rest but the crotch seam was the very last - put together. That's why its weird. Not helpful - the size of it. Thanks guys.

Since I found out what a flat fell seam was (just last week, here) I have been excited to try one.. I have been on a sewing strike the past weeks.
This sounds like the best option with no serger, IMO

They cam out awsome.. well, ahem, kinda awsome... I did not make them 'wide' enough on the waist for myself, but they fit my 9 yr old GREAT!.. lol

Congratulations on the wrap pants and I am sure your daughter will enjoy them.

Also wondering....I know about the Panhandle and Big Bend but have never heard of the Armpit of Florida.... In what area of the state is it located? If you don't mind my asking.

You could come up here. We're hicks and live very close to the small city of Auburn, known as the middle finger of the Finger Lakes.

OH NO Dorothy,
I cannot do the cold..

I have grown custom to the horrid humidity of florida if that is at all possible!.

I have shoulder injury that does not allow me to deal with the cold weather unless I am using pharmacudicals.. and well, my 'chosen' life style and beliefs do not allow me to use such means of controling the pain. So, I just stay away from the pain

If that makes any sense to anyone.

Can you get the Auburn station? I can't here in Moravia and I won't in Syracuse. Maybe I'll have you tape them so I can hear what the editors do to them.

Tummy, I just left Port St Lucie, I agree, it's defitely the "armpit of Florid"!!!!

We (dh, dd1 & dd2) moved there in 2001 so older dd could go to IRCC. Couldn't wait to leave when everyone in the US decided to move there! I live in N. FL, and love it!

Golly. You folks are from my home country. I lived in Syracuse for ten years and visited the state prisons in Auburn and Moravia hundreds of times. It was great going in to visit the men. Even greater getting out and hearing the ten gates and sliding doors clang shut behind me :-) No sewing allowed in there and the fashion options are awful.
