Hello Everyone, Okay - I'm tickled pink! I finally created a multi-tasking workstation I can live with. DH and I went to Home Depot over the weekend and purchased an 8ft. counter top along with three (3) independent office cabinets. I haven't stained them yet or have added the hardware (that's for next weekend). So, for around $270.00 I was able to create a very generous work area that is waterproof, scratch proof, etc. I looked at desks, and was not excited about having to pay $400.00 for something half the work size that I have now. Please check out the link below to see the final product. It's a great workstation solution for someone that is on a budget or is working with a limited amount of space. Finally, I can begin to start sewing again! Happy Sewing! Libby http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g106/crazy4quilting/SewingCenter.jpg A Girl Can Never Have Too Much Fabric!

Very nice sewing station. I do love your countertop surface. The entire unit looks as if it was made that way. Your husband did an awesome job! What color of stain will you use? The natural finish looks nice, too. |

That is great. I may end up doing something like that when we move. Dorothy |

Thanks Everyone. I really was stumped w/ trying to create a workable long-time solution. I thought about folding tables in an "L" shape, but I was worried that the embroidery machine would not do so well with all of the vibrating up & down. This was a good inexpensive fix. I plan on staining them a light oak color, since the cabinets are made of oak as well, possibly with some pewter or black finish hardware. It's so nice to finally sit down and have a place to work without using the Kitchen table and then having to pick everything up again right in the middle of a project. I hope this wil help someone else if they are in the same pickle I was in! Happy Sewing Everyone!

great sewing station! I work off an old metal desk which is great but only holds one machine at a time. Most of the time I have my serger on the dining room table and the sewing machine in my sewing room. Since I rent, can't put in all the counter top/cabinets I'd like to put in. Congrats on getting yourself organized!
