Hey everyone. I have been so busy lately. But I can say that I have been sewing more. I miss everyone but it's either sew or chat and I have to take breaks from both because I'm addicted to both. ROFL Seriously life is a little better lately. I took those long wanted quilt classes and I've actually almost finished my stack and wack quilt I started before Katrina and started another one. I finished a purse I made for one of my granddaugthers. I found out I'm going to be MawMaw again in October to another UGH girl. This one will make granddaughter #6. I know I prayed for a little girl before but 6 of the little angels in about all I can take. LOL Not really I love them all. I'll have 2 grandsons and 6 granddaughters now. As Mary would say I have all the pink frufru I can take. My son that was living next to me is the father of the little darling. He's moved into his new home and son #3 has moved next door now.

They bulldozed my house, my mothers house and two of my sons homes in Chalmette and for the first time in my life I feel like something has been yanked out from under my feet. I went down there the day before they tore my Mothers house down and my son and I went in a took the last little bit of memories we could save out of there. The next day they came and down it came. When I got home I pulled a ceramic fish vase I thought my Mom had made when I had my ceramic shop out to clean and as I was washing it I turned it over and on the bottom was my youngest sons name scratched in the bottom and the date he made it for her. What a surprise it was to find out it was my sons and not hers. He made it when he was 6 years old.

Raymond has built his shop which is hurricane proof and his baby (his old car) will be home as soon as he gets the roll up doors ordered and installed. The best part of the shop is when it's finished he's going to let me hold my Sewing Guild Meetings in the office of the shop. I have plenty of ladies who want to join the guild and I'm going to organize a neighborhood group up here. And the best news is on July 19th a WalMart is opening just 15 minutes from me. Now I'm in heaven. I am going to have a laser proceedure done on my eyes on the 18th of July. They were suppose to do it on the 6th but the machine broke and I'll have to wait now for that. The caterac surgery if you remember was not fun for me so please think of me again for this. They say it's not bad but I'm not fond of having him examine my eyes much less zap them with a laser.

Well I'm going for now. Hugs to all of you. I miss all of you and will try to check in more often.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Well, Golly, Suzie, I was thinking about you just today!! Red Stick Guild will be held at Jones Creek Library this Thursday...usually at Bluebonnet...Let me know if you can come..I think that it is awesome that you are going to start a sewing group at home...Go girl!!! Sorry about the razings of the houses..knew it was coming but must have left you feeling like something is missing....Life moves on but thanks for your memories...Since so much was lost, maybe you should start a journal for the kids and grandkids while your memory is still "young."

 Suz.... [[[ ]]]
I been wonderin about ya too...they keep showing last yrs hurricanes on tv...as if we don't have enough cr*p to see just walking out our doors.
(yep we still have blue tarps on roofs etc...and the news paper today was fulla hurricane Dennis and photos of then and now...not much difference, except theres no beach...not even on the roads :whacky: ).

I'm sorry they dozed your homes...it's a shame. (shame on the government).
I got to see the house I grew up in, in NM when I made my husband go to Albuquerque in 86...as far as I know, it's STILL there...(it was one of those
'fake', realistic looking 'adobe' houses..really made from cinderblock, covered in plaster built in the 40's/50's)(and the one I spent my teen yrs in (CA), is in a town where my in-laws live, I KNOW it's STILL there.) It's hard to lose a 'home' but at least you all are Ok...

Cataract surgery these days is a piece of cake...you'll do fine !!!
(I see all  no pun intended...well not much of one anyway... :dave: )
Behave yerself and take care...

Kath

btw...make the new granddaughter wear yellow....and make her into a tomboy...that way you don't have to do all the frilly stuff.. :bolt:

Same here Susie. I've been wondering what is going on in your life and how you are. As to the laser surgery on your eyes, if it's to remove a film from the lens implants, a piece of cake. It's called a capsulotomy. I had it done on both eyes last month and I spent more time waiting for the doc than it took him to do it. Honestly, it took him less than 2 minutes to do both eyes and there was absolutely no pain as he put drops in each eye that numbed the eyes so I didn't blink and it wore off in about 15 minutes.

Oh Patsy that is comforting to know. People told me it was easy not at all like the caterac surgery but I'm a big ninny when it comes to my eyes for some reason. I had back surgery, sections for my babies, and oral surgery and never was scared like I am when they talk about touching my eyes. Maybe as a child I was tramatised with something to do with my eyes. Who knows but the fear is real in my head. I trust the doctor he did the caterac surgery but it's not trust, I don't know what it is. But thanks for the heads up it makes me feel better.

Thanks Esrun for the congrats on the new grand. I love my grands even if I complain about them coming too fast for me. Christmas is going to be fun this year I better start early like yesterday. LOL

Kath, they mentioned Dennis on the news today. It was the anniversary of that bad boy today or yesterday? The weather man here is saying the East Coast if going to get the hurricanes this year there is some kind of weather pattern over us that is going to keep it out the gulf. Oh joy now the poor people on the Alantic coast might have to contend with blue roof and debris everywhere. Not that the flooding in the Penn area wasn't bad enough. We've had rain here only about 6 times in the last 10 months since Katrina. This week it rained twice. I hope no one has to go through another Katrina ever. She was a bad lady.

Paula please let me know when the next one is. Are they always on a Thursday? I go to Weight Watchers on Thursday. I missed last week because I was sick with a bad cold and can't miss another one for 6 months now. But I want to go.

Hey Judee I missed you too. I will try to keep in touch more I promise.

Jan and Dorothy, My pool had huge fish in it when the house came down. I have pics if you'd like to see them of the pool then and now. Whaaaaaa I miss my pool. Raymond's garage is almost finished and I told Raymond I know it won't be this summer but by next summer I want a pool I miss my pool. I don't even have a pool close to us to use to do arobics. But I missed you guys too. I'll keep in touch. At least once a week with my silly self.

Oh and one thing I forgot I went back to WW and lost 11 pounds so far. I have about 13 more to go to get back to PreKatrina. Yeahhhhh. I have some tomatos planted and tomatos are on the bushes and I have one bell pepper on my bush. They are all in pots on the porch but I'm in the country growing my veggies. LOL Hugs to you all. susie

Wow Susie...congrats on the weight loss. I was doing good until last Christmas and went home to visit my family...they fed me too well and I have been paying for it ever since. Re the eye surgery...I know would be feeling the same. Later in life, my father had mega problems with his eyes (ulcers not cataracts) and he/we went through h**l to keep his sight. So I know would cringe if I had to have anything done to mine. We'll all be sending you good thoughts on the 18th!
