So, I woke up this morning, screaming.

The first thing you need to know, is I do not dream. I take medication for R.E.M. Sleep disorder, and I never dream unless I nap during the day (because I take the med only at night). I did take my med last night.

I had a dream that I was in surgery and there were complications. I ended up with needles in my eyes, so they could place a camera under my eyelid to see things???? (I dream very strange)

At the same time I was yelling at my SO, why won't he talk to me! In my dream, he was avoiding me - yet I was in surgery at the same time.

I'm having laparoscopy Friday - Am I am anxious and nervous? Was this really about my SO, never paying attention?

Isn't the brain a wonderous and yet strange thing?

I think after the surgery I will call the sleep doctor, maybe my med needs increased!

I still can't stop laughing, but I sewar my heart rate is out the roof - I'm off for pre-admission testing now!

Have agreat day all!

If you can remember certain aspects of your dream, such as an object and emotions, try checking out the meaning in the dictionary. For example with the word eyes (taken directly from their website):

"To see your own eyes in your dream, represents enlightenment, knowledge, comprehension, understanding, and intellectual awareness. Unconscious thoughts may be coming onto the surface. The left eye is symbolic of the moon, while the right eye represents the sun. It may also be a pun on "I" or the self. If you dream that your eyes have turned inside your head and you can now see the inside of your head, then it symbolizes insight and something that you need to be aware of. This dream may be literally telling you that you need to look within yourself. Trust your intuition and instincts.

To dream that you have something in your eye, represents obstacles in your path. Alternatively, it may represent your critical view and how you tend to see faults in others.

To dream that you have one eye, indicates your refusal to accept another viewpoint. It suggests that you are one-sided in your ways of thinking.

To dream that you have a third eye, symbolizes inner vision and insight. You need to start looking within yourself.

To dream that your eyes are injured or closed, suggests your refusal to see the truth about something or the avoidance of intimacy. You may be expressing feelings of hurt, pain or sympathy.

To dream that you have crossed eyes, denotes that you are not seeing straight with regards to some situation. You may be getting your facts mixed up."

Try checking out other key elements of your dream such as surgery, needle, camera. Also try checking yelling, and emotions you were feeling such as frightened.

And down the road, a really interesting book is _Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype_ by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D. Estes examines folk tales and literature giving the symbolism in the stories. Fascinating if you enjoy women's studies!

My daughter doesn't go the Jungian philosophy (feel good stuff she calls it) and believes in more of a cognitive approach to psychology (to each their own).

Wow, what a great answer. I have the Estes book and have not gone all through it yet but the interpretation of folk stories is very interesting.

I wonder, is anyone else like me, in that you have really weird dreams while you're out of it from a migraine? A friend has suggested it must be the medication but I've been on several different meds, and no meds, and still get wild, vivid dreams. You'd think they would be scary or distressing, due to the pain of the migraine, but they are usually highly entertaining and not disturbing like a nightmare.

I'm not sure on my view of dream interpretation, but I'm checking out that website when I get home from work - thanks!

"To dream that you have something in your eye, represents obstacles in your path. Alternatively, it may represent your critical view and how you tend to see faults in others"

Geez - could this be because Peter is LAZY and does NO house work??? I read today that women who work do more than 80% of the workload in the home, in addition to their jobs. Men do 20%.

Longblades - I suffer from Migraine Aura - lol. I have what is called teriary ischemic attacks (if I spelled that correctly) - I lose my sight and hearing completely! Freaked me out the first time . . . .

...so.... dream interpretation.....can't quite see how me and Justin Timberlake having a food fight in the kitchen and waking up hollaring with laughter and giggling all day fits into my world view except I do like a laugh! ( My husband thought I was having a nightmare and was not impressed when I laughed uproariously as he woke me up - he sulked all day , I giggled)

Hope the surgery all goes well Butterfly. I nly ever dream of my teeth falling out (loss of libido) when I am due to go to the dentist...lets face it - stuff the interpretation - it's a straight anxiety dream!

I have weird dreams all the time. I often dream that I am flying. I've dreamed several times that I was pregnant. (my kids are teenagers!) I dream that I'm back in high school and I can't find my locker. :nc: I've dreamed that I went to work in my pajamas or underwear.
I've dreamed that I could breath underwater. That was a fun dream.
I dream about my deceased grandparents pretty often. Those are always good dreams where I usually get hugs or smiles from them.
If I ever have bad dreams, it's usually about someone dying.

Yesterday I fell asleep on the sofa and was just starting to wake up while I was dreaming of a crab crawling on the sand. I opened my eyes and could still see the crab crawling across my wood floors. It faded away. It was so weird.

Long Blades - I get something like dreams with migraines that don't seem to be related to meds. I hallucinate. I know I am doing this as I am semi conscious when I see weird things happening, like a chair slowly moving around in mid air - something actually in the environment and not something new. It is not terrifying, but is disturbing knowing what is happening. I guess I tend to be prone to things like this, tho I have never had it examined. As a child I had hallucinations (often the same images) when I had a fever and I would be terrified. My father talked about it until the day he died. One weird thing happened in my mid 20's when I had a migraine and had the same hallucination I had as a child - has never happened before or since. It was very scary, particularly as I was alone at the time. I have also had an hallucinogenic experience with preoperative medications. I know enough about chemistry to know that the preop med is similar in nature to the migraine meds I was taking at that time and I now tell anyone who asks that I am allergic to that medication.

I was a young adult in the 60's and experienced a lot of 'hippy' things. I never tried any drugs mainly as a result of my childhood hallucinations. At one point, as nurse near a research facility, that later became infamous, I was asked to trial a new psychogenic drug - the researcher couldn't believe that I wouldn't try something so much fun and well supervised!!!!

Butterfly - some of those medications used for sleep disorders are similar to other meds you may be sensitive to, so ask your sleep doctor about it. I also take medications for a sleep disorder (maybe they are similar or indicative of something yet to be discovered) and one of the medications I take has a warning about dreams, but I have never experienced them.

At this point in my life, I rarely ever dream (probably related to sleep disorder) but when I do I forget it within 1/2 hr of waking - and sometimes I really would like to remember --- hmm.

Sweet dreams, everyone

How about me and Nickolas Cage ( I don't even like the man.) chasing ferrets down hill sides trying to gather them all up into our arms, to save them....

(yeah yeah...I know...I can't save ferrets....I can't save anything really...but it's nice to try things in your dreams... :whacky: )(and why Nickolas Cage ???
I don't like the way he looks, talks, or acts....weird...)

Kath (the resident weirdo...said it before you Jan...ha ha ha...)

Sancin,

I know what you mean about meds. It took me two years to find the right ones for me. I rarely dream, ever, because of the klonipin. Thats why it was so strange to have the dream I had the other night - because it was while I was on medication.

I am going to call my Doctor after my surgery and see him. Maybe my medication needs an adjustment.

I found out about my sleep disorders because I was punching the walls and kicking in bed, and talking in my sleep, and falling asleep during the day. I finctioned this way for years until one night I took a swing and it landed in Peter's face. I broke his nose. I was completely asleep and never knew till I woke up the next morning - then I called a doctor.

I was sleeping 16 hours or more a day (sometimes I still can, or wish I could!)

We still joke about him wearing a hockey mask to bed . . . . lol

Why Nickolas Cage? That's easy, he looks a bit like a ferret. Everything in his face sort of draws to a point at his nose, LOL.

Sounds like a whole lot of anxiety to me about the surgery.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Just don't let Justin Timberlake near the bread rolls, that's what I say.

Nope sorry...he just ran down the hills with me...besides if he really WAS a ferret...he'd run UP pant legs, sleeves, down shirt necks.(and if you happen to let one in the bathroom with you, they'll swing in your panties, while yer goin....I know more info than you needed, but it's a funny habit ferrets have. They want to get into everything, especially if their fav parent is in it too.)

I snore....bad allergies. (thats my excuse and I'm stickin to it...) I used to sleep walk as a teen...but it stopped.) I don't move much while I'm sleeping, unless kicking the covers off because I'm too hot counts... :bg: (covers consist of one sheet... :bg: )

I can go for weeks and not dream then spend a good week dreaming like mad and flinging myself all over the bed. The best one ever was when I left my DH for Matthew Maconaughey, never did tell him about it though! If I get really stressed at work I dream about work over and over and over
