I'm making chains around the edge of a skirt and having difficulty with every color.
Yellow -- just figuring out how to do it
Red -- had a burr in the needle
Green -- the looper thread got caught on something and made a knot
White -- the lever to raise and lower the presser foot fell off

Still have blue, pink, yellow and orange to go.

I poured myself a glass of wine and settled in to watch the news to lighten my mood. Then I got a call from a very special person I haven't talked to in probably a year or more. That cheered me up but I don't think I'll do any more chains until I finish working tomorrow.

After the chains come appliques.

Then you will all see it.

I had a vision while I was working on this. I put a pin in to show myself where to start the red chain so the beginning and end of the chain would be covered by an evenly spaced applique and I had a vision of Libby standing there with a yard stick tapping it across her hand. She looked just like my fifth grade teacher Mrs. Warren. I took the pin out and made a chalk X.
"Never let a pin near the serger," right Libby? Wasn't it you who said that?
Enough of my problems. The world is going to hell and I'm missing it on the news.

I hate watching the news - but I guess wi8th a galss of wine and the thought that you're watching the world go to hell....makes a serger seem lightweight.

Then there's always: "If you're going through hell, keep driving." (Churchill)

Dorothy, must have been the day for serger problems. I had to rethread mine 3 times yesterday before it decided to work properly (couldn't be operator error! LOL).

Hope your day goes better today and can't wait to see what you are making!!!

Dorothy, I will gladly take the surger off of your hands for you, LOL!! I am still stick trying to be cute with my kenmore machine. I wish I could have some wine and just chillout, but babies dont like wine, well not the kind you drink.

Like I said I will willingly drive to NY and pick up the serger and take away your problems, LOL!!! :bg:

Of coarse you would never see your vision come to life. :dave:

Instead of working this morning I finished the chains on my skirt. Boom, boom, boom, boom --not a bit of trouble.
But if I don't get to work I am going to have an editor at my door -- boom, boom, boom with his reporter hunting gun.

Dorothy.....

Are you underwater? We just got over 5" of rain this past hour and our backyard is flooded. Sub pump in basement couldn't pump it out fast enough..... &**(*&^ Radar says rain is gone, but why is it still coming down? Sirens keep going.....I think I need to stop by for a glass of your wine.....

Isn't that cute, you've named your serger, Mr. Fricken Fracken.

I can't wait to see your outfit. It will be beeeyooouutiful.

It's even raining IN my kitchen!
My husband just called from Auburn and said it quit raining there. Poor little Lucy the dog is staring sadly out the window. I put her out earlier and got involved writing and she came in soaked and real ticked off. She hates the rain.
I've got two ladies out of eight on the skirt then ran out of bobbin thread.
Mr. Fricken Fracken was very cooperative today.
I'll probably finish tomorrow. I'll post a picture when I do.
I'm quite pleased with myself right now.

Dorothy,
I cannot tell you how pleased I am to learn that you remembered that lesson about the Pins..! ! I just had such a warm fuzzy feeling after I read your words.. I bet you did not feel warm fuzzy when Mr Fricken Fracken started showing his A--, though.. I'm so glad he is doing better now.. Maybe if you threaten to pull his plug , it will make him think twice before showing out.. I was in the middle of a lycra bikini for the GD of a good friend the other day and susie q decided to drop her left needle.. I was lucky though, it did not break, because I had her at the friend's house and no spares with me.. See, I'm not so smart after all.. (I should have known better) But we made it OK.. I don't like making bikinis..Don't think I make another....

Just think though Libby , they take so little fabric!

I trust Lucy prefers Soccer, Dorothy. I can't imagine her in all the shoulder pads and helmets. (Actually I can, what a giggle!)

Yes, Jan, she is quite the soccer player. She will run the ball around until her face is bleeding if you let her. It takes at least two neighborhood kids to keep up with her. She even spins it on her nose!
We had to replace the soccer ball with a light basketball, though, because when she gets mad she bites at the ball and kept eating those soft plastic covered soccer balls.
You should have seen the first time she jumped up and hit a heavy basket ball with her head. She only did that once -- knocked her down on her side. Andy from next door only gave the basketball one hard kick too, then went limping home to mom -- he's 8-years-old.
Now we've compromised with a lighter weight basketball.

I didn't finish the skirt yesterday because my daughter called. It was the first time she spoke before a judge in court. Of course she WOWED him. Well actually, she said, he knew what he was going to do when he scheduled the hearing. He was ticked off at the attorney for the other side. She was glad it wasn't her he was mad at because, "I probably would have started crying!"

I have one more lady to put on my skirt and and I'll post a photo.
