Wow I'm starting to feel like the ground is being pulled out from under me -- in a good way, really. My husband got a new job so we decided to sell the house and rent closer to his job for a couple years til we can move next door to Libby. We accepted a purchase offer Sunday so if the guys bank goes for it we will move by the end of August. I REALLY want to move but now it is getting close I feel a little misty. We've lived in this village for 25 years and in this house nearly 20 years. Then, the radio station called and asked if I wanted to cover city council and county legislature for their news. I'll be writing it and getting quotes, not speaking on the radio -- I don't have a very good voice for radio, ask Patty. They are ordering me a tiny recorder and big microphone to wave in the mayor's face. The microphone is completely for show I guess but gives these small time politicians a thrill. I'm kinda excited about this but it is going to cut into my sewing time. I just thought I'd tell you all about my crazy life. Dorothy |

WOW Dorothy...Lots happening for you and your DH...My motto is things happen for a reason...It's not easy to leave your comfort Zone ...but look at all the new experiences you will encounter...It sounds like a great job and you can alway's go back for a visit...and all the memory's you will have to just take them with you in your Heart...it's only natural you will feel a little misty time and again...so here is a BIG HUG from me.

Since I'll still be doing features for the newspaper and covering this county for the radio I'll still be around. I do want to move to the city -- I was just hoping for a warmer city. Dorothy |

Well Dorothy, you'll just have to make a really big name for yourself with this job so you can have your pick of a job in a warmer city! LOL. Congrats on the new job.

Dorothy's voice is sultry.....think of a jazz singer....yep, that's Dorothy. Wow! When it rains, it pours! I hope that financial part of the home sale goes well for you and finding a place in the city. Guess it was a good thing you didn't sign up for the quilting class down in Ithaca. Now are you actually going to rent a truck for moving, or will you be going down the road with your sofa straped to the top of your Mini Cooper? I'm glad the wind is at your back and nice things are happening for you Dorothy! Patty

Well, the one nice thing about moving, is getting rid of all the stuff you don't really need or use and starting out fresh. But I imagine after 20 years in one house, you have lots of stuff to go through! Congrats on the house sale and the new job Dorothy!

Dorothy, I can relate to how you're feeling. The first tme we made a move, I had never left my home state and I didn't want to move; this time, I didn't like where I lived and was thrilled to be moving to a new area. In both cases, I think there is a normal bit of grieving that goes along with it. Someone told me that it's normal not to feel quite like yourself for up to a year after a move, and someone else said that it is the loss of the familiar. I started thinking of my recent move as "endings and new beginnings". Actually, that's how I got through my daughter's senior year of high school, when everything was changing. It sounds like this is definitely true in your case--an end of living in the same house and same place, but a new beginning with new jobs and a new place to live--and maybe some other wonderful new opportunities ahead as well. |

I bet we could get atleast 6 people in it..Maybe 7 if it is a hatch back and not a trunk I hate moving, I did it last year and it just about broke me down. SOOOOO much stuff. I almost threw away all of my D toys just so I didnt have to go through and pack them, ended up dumping them into one box Good luck with that, I will say that if you can find as many same sized boxes to use, like the paper boxes. It makes fitting them into a moving truck way easier!! Stephi

Stephi -- We can fit 4 adults in the Mini Cooper but two of them will complain some. And I have no intention of moving without professional movers to do most of the work. Besides, most of this junk is going to a dumpster anyway. Even some of my stash is going to good homes. But most of it is going with me. I told my husband I could get by with a BIG corner. He laughed and said I will need a room. Dorothy |
