I have something to look forward to then - I can't bend over at the moment and therefore can't shave my legs and I have serious spikies - I'm considering asking my beloved to do them for me...... ...Jan, I do hope Tony doesn't complain of bristle rash? Epicare is good but I don't think it would work on a full beard...... |

If I get any more facial hair my family is going to put me in the circus as the bearded lady. I'm just hoping there is health insurance with the job.

I'm addicted to Sally Hanson products (the pre-done strips that pull the hair out, after you warm them up in your hands) and plucking...(I have 6 tweezers in various sizes.) When I talk to my neighbor Melanie about my mustache (and my husband over hears) they both go, what mustache...I say exactly...since I've been taking it off most of my life, no one but me (and now you all) know I have one. I have very dark hair, am 1/2 Italian...I have H A I R...and it seems to grow 2-3 times faster than anyone elses. I spend a lot of time plucking and pulling. (this is making me laugh like you wouldn't believe....) I asked my husband to shave my legs once, so he would get the idea, but he took forever (saying he didn't want to cut me) that I said, I won't ask you again. I do ask on occasion, he always says, ya got a couple of hours free ? (ah no... ) Chrys

I mascared my mustache once - I looked like my brother. Scarey. It is the eyebrows that grow out of your chin that get me the most. Tony has a beard so he can't feel my stubble rash... My hippie daughter shaved her armpits for her wedding It was after I offered to plait her armpit hair. love and kisses, Jan

I'm pretty fair and not very hairy. Not only do I not have a moustache, I barely have eyelashes to mascara any more. Actually I do have a bit more facial hair but I can snip it off with stork scissors every couple months. Those things are darn handy. Here is a thought for today -- It takes a mighty good man to be better than no man at all. Teach your daughters. Dorothy |

So I'll add this story about hair this morning.... We were always dragging our little kidlets around to museums when they were little. They were 11,8, 6, and baby....when we went to Washington, DC one July and stayed at the "Willard Inter..cotton...tail" when it was newly remodeled. Ahhhh to live the life of luxury (oh sorry, digressing). We made a quick stop at the National Gallery of Art. Oh, if only I had more time just to soak that in, but we were picking out galleries that we thought the kids might enjoy. My husband went to the Flemish section and there she was......an enormous nude.....reclining in all her natural beauty. I'm not one for giving labels to the kids, if they're interested, they could indicate it to me what they wanted to talk about. My son, Nik, was 8 at the time and he stood right in front of that nude. People gathered around him and he just looked up and was totally absorded in all her glory. I decided since my baby was of the cranky variety if the wheels didn't keep moving that I had better move to the next room. I peeked around the wall, Nik was still gazing at the beauty and so I went to another room. After a few minutes I could see the guard kind of giving me the look so I went to check on Nik. Standing in front of the painting he says, "Oh My God will you take a look at that." People are around him and they snicker and walk on. "Oh, My God will you take a look at that." Again, he repeats his mantra. I then tried to explain that this painting was larger than any woman in real life and got into a diatribe about proportions. Again he goes, "Oh My God will you take a look at that." I finally asked the right question of "Take a look at what?" ..........................................."She has hair under her arms." So in our world of ultra clean and shaven down........kids are always amazed at what natural really is. Patty

Patty, I loved your story. The minds and honesty of children is so precious. My grandson, who is six, is always trying to get me to play Monkey Ball on play station. I finally just told him the absolute truth last week " I can't stand to play that game." He replied "You can sit." |

I just saw a commercial for a facial cream called Vaniqa that reduces facial hair. It requires a prescription. I wonder if it works? I went to my MIL's one day to do her hair for her and wound up plucking her eyebrows and chin hairs too. She didn't know the chin hairs were that bad since she can't see well anymore. She said she thought she had got them. After using her old tweezers I could see why they were still there. At least she doesn't have to shave her legs at all anymore. I still have to shave my legs, but at least the hair growth is starting to slow down. Now I have this one chin hair that keeps coming back. I told my daughter to please point it out to me if my chin gets to looking like granny's. |

The only hair I've lost so far is I don't have to shave my legs nearly as often. That I like. My hair on my head still grows just as fast, no facial hair either. What I think is weird is DH has more body hair than he used to but his thick hair on his head is thinning. Does it just go to other body parts on men ? Stop laughing, I really want to know. |

My husband(is gonna be 52 and I've known him since he was 19) has always been hairy. 5 O'clock shadow AFTER he's shaved, lots of head and chest hair, but afer 40 he started growing MORE hair. On his back, belly, shoulders, EARS and his eyebrows get bushy. Luckily he's consious of this and trims his nose hair, ear hair and eyebrows. (the rest he can't do much about.) He's always had a mustache. ( I like it...). He said he started shaving at 13. ( I believe that...) His whole family is hairy....(and they're Irish...must be black Irish). They all go gray/silver early too.... The woman who cuts his hair likes to play with it. (even though he STILL keeps it pretty much military short) (my father-in-law is hairy too...I haven't seen him in shorts or even in a short sleeved shirt. He has full body tattoo's, done before he was married. I've seen them on his wrists, neck and ankles...my husband says he's tattooed blue all over. Must be weird looking after all these yrs....but I'm not asking him.. ) Chrys

I'm brand spanking new here. I've been getting the newsletter for a while now and thought I'd check out the boards. Glad I did. This looks like fun. This is the thread that convinced me that I'd fit right in though. I just turned 50 the end of April and can relate........... Looking forward to enjoying your company and learning something too. Is there an "introduction" page or is this it? Just jump right in, huh? Take Care all, Lennie |

Welcome to the group Lennie. It's a great place to learn, exchange ideas, see what some have made, talk about whatever ( within the rules of course ) and plain ole have some fun. It's like an extended family, even down to not agreeing on some things. That's what makes it real & hashing over different ideas. Mary is our leader & just like a good strict mama she keeps us in line. She's a gem for sure plus a lot of fun. |

That story is too, too, too funny! Once, my little son (now 27) became quite alarmed when he noticed his baby sister didn't have "holes in her ears!" So many women and girls he knew had pierced ears that he thought we were born that way. So I'll add this story about hair this morning.... We were always dragging our little kidlets around to museums when they were little. Well, I'm getting very close to 80, and I still have a pretty good crop of white hair on my head, but practically none elsewhere. I haven't shaved my legs for at least 45 years. I have none on my face except for light brown eyebrows and lashes, or on arms or legs. My grandkids have asked me, "Nonna, why don't you have hair on your legs?" This was on the beach or around the pool. I told them it's the Indian blood coming out in me, so now they inspect themselves to see any signs of Indian heritage! I don't know if that has anything to do with it, since I am a polyglot! My entire family has French, Irish, English, American Indian, German and Swiss; plus some of children and grandchildren have Danish, Polish, Scandinavian, Mexican, and Heaven alone knows what else! Isn't it fun? Glad you're here. I joined last month. Come join the Bingo game at Games and Challanges if you like. You pick 25 words from the master list and each day 5 are posted. The first one to have all her words listed posts Bingo. Someone has volunteered to send that month's winner a gift. I just did it for the first time. It was fun. You need to look for October Bingo Words to get started. Have a good one! Oh, this was the post that started me posting. It's a good one. We can all so relate........ Lennie |

Like many of you I no longer have hair where I used to and haven't shaved my legs in many a year. The facial bristles seem to be getting worse. I made my daughter promise that if I am ever in a comatose state she is to pluck the hairs on my chin and rub off my mustache. Fortunately I am very fair and really don't have much. My biggest concern was when my eyebrows and little whiskers started to go white like the rest of my hair. I recall a young female patient (~ 26) who had a disastrous cardiac arrest at work and was not found before much damage was done and she was left in a vegetative state. Her mother routinely came in and shaved her legs once a week, which used to really bewilder my students till I asked them how they would feel. They then said it was a true act of love. Her mother died about after the the young woman was affected and the staff continued to shave the woman's legs occasionally until she too died. *~*~*~* Nancy*~*~*~* " I try to take one day at a time - but sometimes several days attack me at once."
