Just received my latest issue, I am going to send it out as a prize to someone who posts about their sewing for back to school or just plain sewing for kids. Details are in the contests and challenges forum.

I'll have to see if I can find that magazine. I have 2 GDS to sew for - one 5 and one 8. The 8 yr old is chunky and hard to fit. Even the plus sized kids patterns aren't right for her. I'm doing ok on tops and dresses but need help with altering pants for her - any ideas?

Try making a mock pattern from tracing from a pair of pants that does fit her well. Then take this mock pattern and overlay it onto the pattern you are using to see if it will fit her.

Just an idea.

Hello, This Is My First Time To Post Anything. I Usually Don't Have Much To Say. My Daughter Was Telling Me She Knows Of A Family That Has 4 Children And Are Truly Underpriviledged. So I Was Setting There Looking At All My Stash. The Idea Came To Me To Make Them Some School And Summer Clothes. I Did. I Mailed Them To Her And She Distributed Them.... She Told Me That They Thought It Was Christmas!!! And They Had A Hard Time Waiting For The 4 Large Boxes To Arrive! This Made My Heart Feel Soooo Warm That I Just Had To Share It With Someone.some Day Maybe They Will Think Back And Say "i Remember When Some Nice Lady We Didn't Even Know Made All Of Us The Prettiest Clothes!" And The Chain Of Giving Will Begin. Thanx For Listening, Patuzi

Patuzi - That is so sweet!! I bet you were as excited as those children - well almost!! It just feels wonderful to share a God given talent with others, those children will never forget what you have done for them and how wonderful they will look on their first day back to school in their new clothes. Thanks so much for sharing your story!!

Yep... I posted it under sewing for children. We went to a small zoo yesterday. Ellie LOVES zebras but this zoo didn't have any. When we got home she told me " I need a zebra dress because the zoo didn't have a zebra." LOL.... How do you like her reasoning??? I am going to try it.... "I need more fabric because the zoo didn't have any fabric." LOL

Sewing newbie -

What pattern did you use for your skirt? I have been looking for what like that for my great niece.

Beautiful choice of colors, too!!!

Can you purchase ottobre patterns in a brick and mortar store in the US?
These are some adorable outfits!!!
Also, how far up do the sizes go?
I would love to make some of these adorable skirts for my 7 yo dd.

TIA!

I have purchase it at the Joanns Superstore where I'm at, thought they tend to run an issue behind. I know you can get them from online shops like sewzuannesfabrics and woolythreads I think is another.

Thank you :)

We don't have a JoAnns nearby, but I will check my local Hancocks and maybe even Hobby Lobby next time I am there.

Thanks again!
