Hi everyone. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas on cleaning a dirty iron? I got some sticky stuff on it ....seems to be burnt some...brown stuff. What is something I can use to clean it without hurting the metal part. Thanks for any info. Debra |

Hi Debra, This may not be helpful as I can't recall the product name (!), but there is a tube of stuff you rub on the iron, then iron it off. It's available in quilt shops and I happened to pick up my tube at WalMart...think over by the laundry products. Maybe it's called iron off? Whatever it is, it does work for "de-gooping" your iron. Debra I save my used dryer sheets for cleaning the bottom of my iron. I just iron back and forth, in circles, etc. until all of the goook is off the bottom of my iron. I have a Rowenta with a stainless steel bottom on it. Set your iron for cotton and steam. Hope this helps. Patsy Patsy

I simply take a damp rag and pour a capful or so of amonia on it. Then I run the hot iron over the amonia. It is cheap and cleans great. Just don't stand directly over the fumes. They are a bit strong. carol |
