What is this type of material called? Does it come like this or do you have to sew something on it to make it stay like that? What is it around the hem of the ruffles???? Anyone know anywhere to get or buy patterns?????? http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/69_1.jpg THANKS A LOT |

It is called Twinkle Organza. It has a little bit of "glint" to it. It has nice body and is usually found in the evening wear fabrics. This is several layers of fabric made like a tutu. The ruffles have been circular cut so that they spiral (the outside of the ruffle is larger than the center). If you square cut the ruffles they are not nearly as pretty. I can count 5 layers for sure, possible 6 layers of ruffle...and there could be more. The ruffles lay back on themselves and it is hard to count. The edges of the ruffles are roll hemmed surged, slightly stretched and they have fishline fed into them at the time of serging to hold them stiff. No, I have never made more than one layer of skirt in this manner. I have never made anything for ballet, only show choirs. pam
