Hello everyone! I just found this site over the weekend & I must say this is the shortest time that I've spent lurking before I joined. Everyone here seems so nice, friendly, & supportive.

I'm a married mom of 1, DS starts his junior year of college in September. I've been sewing since I learned in 8th grade home ec. All that time sewing does not make me an expert tho. I'll try anything & I'm usually successful (I follow directions well), but I've never designed anything on my own.

I'm a crafty sort - I also knit, crochet & do papercrafts, I love to read & I'm a Polynesian dancer. Costumes are a whole other area of sewing. I work full time (did I mention I have a college-aged son) but I try to spend 30 minutes or so for me everyday. With my job, it keeps me sane.

Despite the length of this post, I'm the quiet type. I look forward to getting to know everyone & will chime in when I have something to add.

Hi Corinna...yes, everyone here is very nice and helpful with all kinds of questions relating to our sewing/crafting passion.

Ohhhhh Polynesian dancing......in our heat wave the thought of it sounds beautiful. My youngest is starting her 2nd year of college and because she is moving to an apartment, we need some new bedding to fit her full size bed. At one of the stores we saw a bed skirt that looked like a dancer's grass skirt. :) My daughter designed a new quilt and now we're trying to get everything done before she goes.

Enjoy your time here....

Welcome Corinna, I think you'll enjoy this group. We have a lot of fun, learn so much & all are so helpful. Have all age groups & that makes it so nice. I just turned 63 according to my birth record but there has to be a typo on that. The kid in me never left. Married 40 years, 4 adult kids & 12 grands. DH & I have known each other since we were 6 yrs old & went through school together. No secrets hidden there. I've been sewing 36 years & still learning .There's no such thing as a silly question here. Thank heavens!!This group is the best ever.

Hi Corinna,

Welcome to SWN. We all have sort of a sisterhood here and there are some guys here sorry about that guys. Let me rephrase that, a kinship.

I have three sons and 7 grandchildren and one on the way. I've been married for 37 years tomorrow. I think :nc: 1969 what does that make me married? Oh who knows after that many years we both deserve metals. ggggggggg :dave:
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Ok , If you & Raymond get a metal then can Jim & I have a gold star ? LOL. Well, on second thought I guess that's for 50 years not 40, huh ? We all should get something though. And to think they said it wouldn't last. LOL. Just kidding about that. Just think, 5 more grands & ya'll have caught up with us. Sure do love those grands. Keeps this grandma young.

Welcome Corinna-you've hooked up with a great group of people! There's always someone willing to listen or help out and Jan can entertain with her crocheted innards too!

I've been sewing since I was 5 or 6 and enjoy other crafts as well. I've got 3 kids and 3 grandchildren with another one on the way.

Glad you could join us!

I'll have you know my innards are knitted! Always good to have another knitter on board - I am attempting to crochet a plant cell though.
Welcome Corinna, chip in whenever you feel like it.
