i received this from a friend,i havn't tried it yet. You will need to cut a piece of fabric, batting and clear vinyl the size of a placemat. For the batting I used a piece of fleece material that I had left from another project. Then I went to Lowes Home Improvement and bought a pint of Chalkboard paint. I think that you can also buy it at Walmart. Paint the vinyl. I rolled it on with a little small roller brush. Once the paint has dried I used the glue in a spray can and glued the back side of fabric to the batting and the batting to the back side of the vinyl. Then I folded the edge of the fabric over the vinyl and sewed using a heavy needle. Once you have sewed around all four sides I used a piece of ribbon and sewed it to the outside against the right side of the fabric. Roll the placemat up and use the ribbon to tie it closed. I also take a small piece of elastic and sew it to the chalkboard. I use this to hold the sponge and chalk. I used a small piece of sponge from my kitchen sponge and wet it. This helps wipe it off after they draw like an eraser. |

That would be a great idea to have when you take children out to dinner. It would keep them occupied until the food arrived. Patsy Patsy

You chalk it completely, wipe clean and repeat to prime before actually using. Its sewable too! Cherf |
