I was wanting to make my granddaughter some headbands out of the elastic lace and have bows that she could interchange on the one band. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can do that without something hurting her head? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am not sure about attaching the bows to make them removable. what about those stick on velcro dots? A lady at our church makes the cutest headbands for her DD and instead of the elastic lace uses colored knee high panty hose for the band. She says it is wider and stays put better and does not "squeeze" the babies head as hard as the lace does. She just attaches the bow where she joins the 2 ends together. It looks like she has the knee high folded in half so that there are about 4 layers of the nylon. Sounds crazy I know but looks really cute.

or how about putting the bow part on a small barette (the kind that just pops open and closed) and if you didnt' want to attach to the underside of the headband, you could put a small "tab"-like a belt loop on men's pants) on the headband and thread the barrette through that.

I've made headbands like this before. What I used as a "tab" was a pice of grosgrain ribbon, I think about 1/4", wrapped it around the lace/headband and glued it in the back, where the seam for the lace was. The front part was not glued and was open enough to slip an alligator clip through. Sorry if the instructions aren't very clear. I'm not good on directions or instructions, lol.
I tried to post a picture or 2, but was unable to do so. It was too big.
Good luck!

Thanks Lyn. I'm glad someone could finally understand me....well, my instructions at least.

If anyone would like me to email pictures I would be glad to do so. I tried and tried to resize a picture and it was still too big.

Wendy, made me think of that piece of fabric you wrap around the middle of a bow and that would work great for the headbands. Your directions were nice and clear-I can often visualize but can't always come up with the correct wording to describe how to do something.

Here is another idea for a soft headband. I used the millitary braid and added a bow where the two ends met. You also can add a piece of ribbon there and make it interchangable.

I also have done the nylon and they are great too.
