If you are going to make bean bags out of actual bean bags, then do not leave them outside when it is raining. As my husband pointed out, more than likely it is likely to start growing little beans. So, I'm trying leaving them out in the sun under the theory that the hot Texas sun will bake them out...... We'll see, I may be reposting in a few weeks or so and telling you that I threw those things out, because they were growing all sorts of scary things. Ticia Oh, and my husband jokingly said, we could make it into a science experiment and see what happens..... |

I keep bean bags made of beans, popcorn, rice and other edible grains in the frig or freezer. BUGS just LOVE them as I found out one year when I used popcorn to weight some cool Santas. I have a good friend who buys antique unopened sacks of all kinds of things flour, sugar, corn meal, you name it. The first thing she does is take it home and freeze it to kill the varmits.

For any of you who are curious what ended up happening. I just threw them away yesterday. Mostly they just molded, a lot, and the fibers rotted away (of course they had been through a lot more soakings), but two of them did grow into nice tall bean plants. Ticia |

The last set of "bean bags" that I used, the person had put the beans inside a ziplock, then made the outside. Now I know why............
