I went and saw Sandra Betzina last Wed. evening. What an excellent way to spend three hours. She was super as usual.

Sounds good Mary, I have always liked a small amount of embellishment. preferably something to show the cut of a garment. Interestingly, belts are the big thing here this season too - worn high and tight around the waist. Looks great on a stick - feels weird on me. I was always taught that you should sew silk with silk not cotton. Is this new advice or was I misled inthe past?

I don't think you were misled, just different opinions on how things should be done. She had a lot of clothes from silk, wool crepe, boiled wool, etc. Gorgeous fabrics and trims. The printed leather was to die for. Here are some pictures of the clothing we got to fondle.

The red vest was the only piece I didn't particularly care for but everything was just beautiful. She had a copper colored taffeta that she washed and made into an overblouse, it was exquisite. Washing the taffeta really quietened the fabric down.

One time when her show was still on I told the guy at a job interview that I wouldn't leave home to start work until the show was over every day because I wouldn't miss that show for any job.
I got the job on those terms.

Mary...glad to read your review. Sandra Betzina will be coming to Ottawa in October. She will be giving sessions at the Inspirations Needlecraft Show. I am signing up for one of her sessions but as it is on a first come first served basis, I am hoping I can get in.

The Inspirations Needlecraft Show is on Oct. 27 & 28. The web-site is at http://www.inspirationsneedlecraft.com. They have a map on how to get there. Generally, the show has classes for sewing & quilting but this year it is mainly sewing classes...only a couple of quilting related ones. Let me know if you need further info.

Thank you for sharing Mary. I like the red vest it's just the choice of fabric I'm not crazy about. I'm working very hard at going to the needle show in TO in the fall. I've missed it the last couple of years and am just dying to see fabric, notions, machines and people right now.
