What were you using? If all you want is the 130X180 Brother basic can do that. If you think you will be upgrading to a larger hoop, or want to adjust designs, change colors, and learn to digitize, then get PE5 or 6. Bayblock Palette will work, too. Weezy |

I dont really want to design my own stuff at this point. I basically just want to be able to download some designs off the internet or from a cd and put it onto a memory card that I can then use in my machine. Also can I deleat stuff on my memory card and replace it when I am finished with that card? I have the large hoop 6"x 10" with the 3 positions. The only things that I have been using is what came with the machine and one other card. There is just so much more out there I would like to have I cant afford to buy a card for just one design. I would like to pick and choose. Thank you Catherine Catherine

I also have the brother 270d. I bought the ultimate box to download designs from the internet. The designs are then saved onto your computer then you drag and drop the designs that you want to put on your card. Then it erases whatever you have on your card (but it is still saved on your computer). The card has room for many designs. I don't know anything about the brother ped basic but I know that the 5.0 and 6.0 is for digitizing and it expensive. I have heard good things about the ped basic though. |

Thank you so much for the site I love her designs. I know I will be ordering alot from them. I can not believe that she is having such a special. I could get a 100 diffrent packages for what less than what two cards cost. Is your magic box easy to work? Which one do you have? I think there are about four of them. I have been looking at the ped basic do you know if I could up grade it later? Too many decissions. Thank you so much for your help. Catherine Catherine

I have the ultimate box, my aunt recommended it to me. She had the amazing box before and hated it because the card did not hold many designs. I have been happy with the ultimate box and is probably my favorite thing that I have bought for the machine. You can't do any editing with the ultimate box though. It comes with a 30 day trial of embird and after that you have to pay to register it . I never did because I am not into digitizing yet. I downloaded a free program from emroiderydesigns.com called efp font and I put together any words (like my daughter's name) that I want to embroider through that program. The only thing is that you have to go through an extra step to convert it to the .pes. but it is not that hard. It comes with 3 free fonts and I bought the Curlz font for less than $10. I am not the person to ask about the ped basic by Brother though because I know nothing about it, but I am sure someone else out there has it and could give you advice about it. Good Luck! |

If you buy PE Design, you'd still have to by a box and memory card. I have a brother 270D and I bought PED Basic. It comes with the box, card and necessary software all included. Since I only needed something to transfer downloaded files to my machine, that seemed like the least expensive solution, and I'm very happy with it. The card that comes with it holds a nice amount of designs, and you can replace them with different ones any time you like. It's very quick and easy to do! I just put over 20 designs on my card this morning, and there's room for more. I paid $129.73 for it at Walmart.com That's a lot less than I've seen Ultimate Box or Amazing box anywhere! |

I really dont want to design now but maybe later. There are just too many cute things out there now. Thank you for your help Catherine Catherine
