I started a Tiered skirt for Dd. It is cut out of olive green eyelet I found on the $2 table at WalMart. I made her a shirt to go with it out of a cream/natural crinkle T-shirt knit. The neck edge kept stretching so I added a drawstring. It turned out great I will post a picture when I get the skirt done. She want to wear it to a Quensinada(sp) on the 26th. I hope to get back to it tomorrow. We had a garage sale over the weekend & I decided to rearrange my sewing room yesterday. I have the closet still to do. It has a much better traffic pattern now I can actually get to the closet without moving things.

That is a beautful, beautiful sweater!! What a lucky little boy!

This week-end I was working on stuff for our soon to be DGS. I made a couple jon-jon's and some pants. I will applique long sleeve onesies to match the pants. (If I can ever find the long sleeve ones - not many on the shelves when it is still in the 100's) I made a couple of blankets and burpees to match. If I can figure out the camera I will post pictures. I decorated great nieces a couple of tees for back to school. Hopefully I will be able to start a couple of fall outfits for them and a dear friend's little girl soon. I also need to make Boomer Sooner shirts for the neighborhood girlies. (Thought you would enjoy that Pam and Patsy!LOL) But I have got baby fever right now and it seems to consume my time. The outfits so far are nothing spectacular, but I am learning!! Maybe I will tackle the camera today

I'm working on Christmas presents, so I'm most of the way through making a dress up outfit for my niece.

This is definetely one good thing about having a baby due at Thanksgiving, I'm being forced to get all my Christmas shopping/crafts done REALLY REALLY early......

Jen,
Glad to see someone else has many projects going at one time!

Last week: I finished 7 shirts for D#3; 2 maternity shirts for D#2.
This week will be another round of drafting for next week. Not much time left before D#2 moves, but then I will be concentrating on clothes for D#3. In Sept. I need to finish up D#3's clothes. then diapers for gs#3 due in Oct. October will be diapers for g? due in Nov., and clothes for both. When is Christmas?????? :whacky:   If I get lost please come find me, through the dinning room to the left, door at the end of the hall. ( :bang: this is just the sewing stuff, not the knitting stuff.) Glad hubby likes baseball.
I'll breath next year lololol

The sweater is beautiful!
I have a dress & hat cut out and a crochet dress in progress, both for my granddaughter. I also have the pieces crocheted for a cat bed, just have to put it all together. I've had to slow down a little on the sewing and crocheting since summers over and I had to go back to work< but I love my job so it's not all that bad.

I'm working on jackets, cameo material, putting in warm and natural and a linning. Cut out 6 backs and took them down to our local embroidery shop to have our company name put on the backs. Have one almost put together and will try to get a picture before it leaves. I was to cheap to buy company jackets when I figured I could sew them cheaper(of course my labour is nothing in this case) and so far so good. Bought all the cameo material at 75% off,as well as the warm and natural. The linnings will be different colors as I have been buying from Salvation Army when ever I find a piece big enough (in so called male colors) at $2.00 a pop.Picked up some bright orange today but being as it goes with cameo and hunting it will be good.

Woody, I would love to see one of those jackets.

I am sewing for myself this fall. It feels so good too. I have made a couple of knit tops. The fabric is unknown but easy care. Don't worry, I washed and dried to make sure. I made a sleeveless one and a V neck, long sleeved one in a very pretty aqua. Now, I feel like new jammies. The fabric is in the washer as I type.

For once I finished my summer sewing and was getting ready to start fall. I've almost finished a nice long sleeve shirt that I can wear as an unlined jacket as well. Now, over the next couple weeks I probably won't have so much sewing time because we are moving and I have to pack and make arrangements for utilities and get rid of a bunch of stuff here and change my address and phone number with clients and sources for work and probably a lot of other things I haven't thought of.
Then I have to get used to living in a two bedroom townhouse rather than a 9 room 150 year old house. Well, it will be a one bedroom, one sewing room townhouse.

Jammies are all done and turned out very pretty. I needed something simple to sew. With the site in shambles I had to sew and think things thru. Jammies did the trick, they are no brainers. Now, back to work. :pc:

Don't ask what possessed me, but the other day I cut out some headbands, a hat and scarf out of fleece, and today I made the hat, complete with fringe, scarf double sided and 2 royal blue and 4 red headbands for winter... I found all of these fleece remnants in the hall cupboard, product of a shopping trip how long ago, and didnt want DH to see, so I tossed them in and forgot about them.... Since I have to wait till Thanksgiving weekend for my flannel for pj's, I thought it would be something quick to do, besides I wanted to practise before I get out the GOOD PITTSBURGH STEELER fleece...

Great skirts. I love the cartoon fabric.
Didn't all that gathering drive you crazy? It did me with just one skirt. It was easy but what a pain. I felt like I was going around and around and around and got almost as dizzy as those little girls will get twirling those skirts.

Dorothy the gathering is much easier if you zig zag over a cord then pull that. I did these by serging over the cord. You just have to be careful that you don't cut it. I did a couple of times but I just started again where it cut & it worked faster. now if I could figure out how to attatch the layers without pinning. I pin, then baste with regular machine, then serge to finish the edge. They use a lot of thread. I sent the pictures to the girls Mom. She loved them. They live out of town so Grandma is taking them to them over Labor Day. Just in time to start school.

Those pictures are lovely!!!

At the moment i'm doing my sisters Debs dress (ie. prom dress).
It's a deep red halter neck dress with a princess line skirt, the fabric is a lovely satin back crepe and i have a red lace over the bodice section of the dress.

Nearly everything is done, i just have to bead the lace.

Here is a swing top thingy I made recently for my daughter. I am working on some faux chaps type pants/jeans but haven't finished them. I just drafted a simple bodice and added piping, pearl snaps etc. Used La Zagala print European poplin, bandana print(from Hancocks I think) and a Pimatex brown and pink dot by Alexander Henry. It think it went together surprisingly well. :bg: I took the pictures up at my folks near Yosemite - great backdrop.

Need to make quilt labels before they are "complete" Next up, receiving blankets and bibs. Also want to come up with some idea for a signature quilt for the baby-baby shower is end of October and if I dont' start soon, I'll never get it done!

I just finished my quilt top today...my first one! The pattern is called Rail Fence with Stars...anyone else ever make this? I guess it could be more of a wall hanging than a quilt. The finished size is 42X48. It's made out of lots of different colors of homespun material and I haven' t decided what to back it with. I have a free motion foot on order so when that comes, I want to try to do the free motion quilting on it.

:coffee: Well, all my plans on "next week" went down a different road.
So here is where I am now.
Next week!!! maternaty shirts for dd#2 as her bday is on the 28th. then......School clothes for dd#3 and in three weeks...Grandson who was not suppose to be born until Oct 13, came
August 17. So...... I am doing his clothes in 2 sizes, premie and newborn, to cover all the bases. He came in at 4lb 2oz and then lost down to 2lb 10oz, gained a pound and now has an infection and they can't feed him for 10 days, so I know he will lose that precious pound and maybe more.
All knitting has stopped and Christmas stuff is NOT even going to be worried about. One day at a time sweet Jesus! lalala
I love those dresses!! I hope dd#2 has a girl, I would love to dress her up in one of those.

Oh Bekka, I'm sorry to hear his first months of life are going to be such tough ones! You are a good Grandma.

Bekka, we'll be praying for that little baby boy and his family, that has to be hard, and I can't even imagine how much you all must be worrying.

OK here is my first attempt at photobucket. You have to scroll down to see the pics and there are 2 pages. I have no clue what I did wrong.

These are my projects from the past couple of weeks. Sorry about the sideways images. I will learn to correct that.

The pink and black outfit are for a friend who just adopted a little girl. The overalls are for my great niece. I drew the pictures - except for the leaves which DD drew - and cut them out of material and satin stitched them. It was alot of fun!! The fur cuff onesies are from Mom24qtz directions - thank you!! And I did the gathering using dental floss like someone on this board suggested. That was the easiest ever.

Everything else is for my soon to be DGS. These are my first attempts at garment sewing. Nothing to write home about but I have had fun and learned alot.

The blankets turned out really cute, pictures didn't. I will try to photograph them again later.

Thanks to everyone for all their help on this board. I could not have done it without you.

Wow Susan You have been busy. I love the coveralls. Cute cute.

I haven't been sewing except for trying to finish my two quilts I started. Haven't been in the mood much for sewing. I've hemmed school pants and hubby pants for the last week but other than that I'm stuck in a rut. I've bought fabric with good intensions but can't seem to get going on anything.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Susan cute outfits! The pockets on the denimn are the same fabric as the last twirl skirt I made. http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n159/Momofsix2006/Twirl%20Skirts/

You can create different albums on photobucket if you want & then open & copy & paste that address onto the boards.

Mom of six - I love the Donna Newberry fabric - your skirt is so sweet and feminine. I am going to tackle a twirl skirt soon. I want to do it sort of patch work and need to finish a couple of outfits so that I will have enough scraplettes to do so. Does anyone know how long to make the skirt for a size 6-6x? I do not have access to the little girl to measure.

I doubt I will be in possession of DD's camera too much. She is permanently attched to it and her cell phone. But she said she will photo my stuff when I need - so generous. LOL. I am still attached to my 35mm camera but will probably soon have to go digital, too. With first grandchild approaching, youngest DD cheering for school, and my sewing we might have to take a loan for all the film I would need!

I have been making them about 18" in length for a size 6/8. I cut 7 panels 7" each. But the one I have to finish as a request she wants a size 5/6 shirt but 24" length skirt. That seems long to me but Mom measured & that is what she ask for.

I loved looking at all the adorable kids' outfits from the last month that everyone posted. I finished this robe in the spring, but just got the pics uploaded. Hopefully, inspiration for the upcoming months. I wear it a little just about every day.

pink chenille bathrobe (http://sewspace.zoomshare.com/1.shtml/pjs%20etc)

I got the chenille with a 40/50% JoAnn's coupon and the cotton print on clearance at Hobby Lobby. Beware - if you haven't sewn with this before, you will have fluff everywhere! I used (unisex) Simplicity 7417 and cut down a couple inches on each side from my regular measurements and it's plenty big and took out some of the width of the collar. I made french seams for the side and under sleeve seams and serged the sleeveheads. I bias-pieced the facing halfway, so I didn't have to buy as much fabric as the pattern called for (saved a dollar). I added 2 little hearts satin stitched through the facing at the back of the neck to hold the facing down. I hand-stitched those pockets on to avoid the way topstitching would look on this fabric, very uneven.

Inspiration for sewing did not arrive-but I did manage to crochet 2 model cells (one plant:cell wall, membrane, chloroplast, nucleus and I made the cytoplasm out of wadding with a hole cut out for the vacuole. The other an animal cell which was much more simple with just a cell membrane, nucleus and cytoplasm) I was so excited I gave them to my boss before I took a picture - I'll try to borrow them back.
Now making a 1950's kitch tea cosy for DD2 who is back to Uni at the weekend.

Everyone has made such nice things! I hope someday to get really got at sewing and make more complicated outfits!

Ok, here is what I've done recently. I still need to finish the quilt I mentioned in my earlier post.

My sister wanted me to make a dress for her dd like this one
http://mymiraclebaby.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PLL4500&Category_Code=G6M&Product_Count=2
so we picked out fabric and I made this :)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/Wendy523/sewing%20projects/macy1stbday01rs.jpg

Then I made outfits for my dd and ds in coordinating fabric for the party. The party was a Polka dot theme.

I made a bathrobe similar to that for my daughter for Xmas last year. It was a very heavy weight chenille and bright chartreuse. What a mess! But it was beautiful and she loves it.

All I've made since we've moved is some progress unpacking. There are fewer boxes and my machines are set up -- but not plugged in.
I've been knitting up a storm though -- well, if Jan can knit guts I can knit weather!
I don't even know how big this thing will be when I finish -- it is on round needles so I don't really know how big it is now -- but it keeps my hands busy. I think there are a few holes in it but it's hard to tell.

Finally, I had time to work on something!! I had an old pair of TCP jeans and an old Halloween t-shirt from Target last year, and decided to just add some fabric that I got from the clearance bin. I left all of the edges exposed so that they would fray. I also added in a few cut-outs with the fabric behind them. Do you think I should add more to the "decopauge" on the jeans legs? Should I put something on the hem? (ruffle, ribbon, more defined fraying?)
I also painted the shoes and made the bows too. Whoohoo, one child down, 3 to go :whacky: Thanks for any input!

Ya'll are so sweet! Thanks for the kind words. Don't worry about stealing my idea, it wasn't mine to start, lol. I stole everything from eBay, my favorite inspiration location!!! But, are ya'll sure it doesn't need more patches, or something? I feel like it is missing something, but I sure do not relish the idea of taking those seams back out again! Thanks again!!

Thanks hun! I actually decided to just turn the cuffs up and sew them that way. It gives it kind of a crop look without being too short. It also shows the shoes more.
