I goofed, not only once but twice. I touched the edge of my iron onto stitch witchery. I used a teflon sheet but was too close to the edge! I seem to remember reading about a way to remove it, but just can't remember how or with what. Would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

lindal I just use a used dryer sheet and run my iron back and forth over it to take the stitch witchery, fusible web, etc. off the bottom of it. Sometimes it takes more than one used dryer sheet depending on how much I get on it at one time.

The only way I know is to heat the iron and do as Patsy says. I've never tried a dryer sheet but I can see where it might work better than just fabric.

I have gunky iron problems all of the time. I've tried the Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner that I bought at WalMart in the ironing section. It's a silicone and it's totally non-toxic although it does put out some yucky smells. I've had success but not total success with it. The iron does glide nicely after using it. It's not at all expensive either and I always keep it on hand.

A lady in a fabric dept once told me that she just uses wax paper and has success with that.

Good Luck. Lennie

I use the circles that I cut from fingertip towels (5 inch diameter) and dampen them, and iron over it ... When I get it clean, I then polish the iron by ironing over waxed paper.. The waxed paper trick was taught to me by my Grandmother back in the 40's and it still works the best for the money.. I keep a box with a roll of waxed paper in my sewing room all the time.. :bg: :bg:
