I bought some camoflauge (sp?) flannel the other day to make into some receiving blankets for one of the fellows at work whose wife is expecting soemtime in September. Well, I washed it because I wanted to see how much it would shrink as I had bought just slightly more than I had planned but, end of bolt and all,-you know!. Anyway, it washed up well but it is pilling....how do I get rid of the pills and do I really want to use it for baby blankets?? :bang: :bang:

I have had the same problem  . What has helped with subsequent washings is I now limit the number of yards of flannel I was prewash at any one time. This minimizes abrasion with the agitation of the machine (old-fashioned top loading washer), and the same if I put it in the dryer. Now I have virtually no pilling. Before I would prewash my flannel in a load the size of a regular laundry load. For the flannel that did pill, I laid it out on my cutting table and used a stiff, natural bristle brush, and brushed the pills off. I have a little pill shaver but I was too lazy to read the instructions so I don't know how well or if it works :nc: .

I only washed like 2 1/3 yards..you wouldn't think that would be too much. Frustrating is what it is! Guess I'll go looking for a brush or pill shaver.....Good thing the shower is a month away-it will take me that long to get back in the mood to deal with it!
