Just read this morning that new quilting stamps will be available this coming Friday (don't think it's today..... ). There was a short article in a supplement magazine with today's paper. These stamps are based on quilts from a group of elderly women from Alabama who've been quilting together for most of their lives. This is definitely folk art and beautiful! The colors are fabulous. I think it's wonderful that these humble women are recognized for keeping an American tradition going. I don't collect stamps but will make a point of picking up a sheet of these. Lennie |

http://www.black-threads.com/quiltpostagestamps.html I finially found a site that had pictures of the stamps. I went to the post office today and they won't have the stamps until the 25th. I was mailing my daughter a birthday package and rather than paying for the metered stamp, I was planning on covering the package with stamps! She likes Super Heroes so that's what I plastered it with. Patty

It's so ironic that I see this post b/c my mom and I were just talking about the Gee's Bend quilters on Sunday. Gee's Bend is not that far from where I grew up at all (and where my family still lives.) I had NO idea all that talent was just up the road! I looked on Amazon for their book (the big one w/the pictures) and it's price is $545.00!! I cannot wait for the stamps! Julie
