I am considering purchasing the Monogram Wizard Plus and was wondering if anyone has this and how you like it. Is it easy to use and worth the price? Is there any advantage to purchasing it over the internet for $250 or at a local sewing shop for probably $100 more? Is there another brand not as expensive but still good? I just plan to use it for occasional use for gifts, etc. Looking forward to some feedback.

I have Monogram Wizard Plus and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Go for the Plus program (for sure). The layers are great! You can do a large central monogram in one font in the middle on one layer, add a different size/different font to the sides on another, and then do the same with the top and bottoms of the design. It is very easy to use. You can do lettering up to 10 inches!

At the time I purchased mine there were no dealers in Oklahoma so buying from a local dealer was not an option. Since then my local dealer now handles it. It is VERY VERY easy to use. I never used the manual although I printed it out because it was pretty self-explanitory. I'm not all that wonderful with PC's (not mainframes), so that should explain that it really IS easy.

There is another program out there. I don't know the price or much about it. I think that it is done by Amazing Designs..at least most of the places I know that have it have their products also. Most of the people I know have the Wizard. The $250 price seems to overall be pretty standard as a price...however, if you shop around you can get promotional designs and other "things" with the package....so it is worth checking out your options.
A lot of people have purchased from Marvelous Marve (lot of people like to buy from him). I did not, mine came from St. Louis. I got a mess of great Pantene Designs with mine that included things like Eastern Star and other major commercial use designs that I could really use (for free). If you go to Needleheads.com (these are the people who produce the package, do not sell it), you will find a link to companies that sell the product. If you click on the picture of the flyer you'll get an enlarged flyer so you can see the fonts included in the Plus version. There is a lot of brochure information at that site.

I really enjoy monograms! I also enjoy my Artista V4...however I probably do a lot more lettering than I do designs. I've often wondered if I would have purchased my software had I bought the Wiz first....

Thanks for your reply, Pam. I think I may go ahead and treat myself to this program. I just needed some assurance before I invested the time and money. I appreciate your help. Rose

There are some addition specialty fonts that are available for MW+. So far the most affordable place I have found to purchase any of these is at Allbrands. Their service and price on these plug ins has been very good and I have no complaint about them (have never bought anything large from them.) I only purchased one plug in (didn't really need any others right now) and it was a varsity-type applique letter with banner. It is kind of strange because you load the lettering with the CD that has it and from then on the MW program runs the monogram...one of those programs where you always run it with the CD.

Hi Rose,

I have MW+, also, and I'm very happy with it. It's lots of fun to play with.

Hi Grumpy Bud,

I just bought MW+ on eBay two weeks ago - so far so good, unfortunatley I didn't realize I needed software to convert it to my Bernina. But after playing with it for a week, I love it - and I can't wait to stitch out the designs I saved! Check out this link, because I paid 250 for the software, and got 2 additional fonts (100 value) for free. Good luck! The people were great, and her feedback is 100% - PERFECT! Check out her eBay store, because she has lots of other things as well!
