Well I finally made my bag (http://www.flickr.com/photos/heyjudee/224111509/in/photostream/)! Donna Moses made it last December for a Christmas present and posted a pic back then. I had the same pattern and said I planned on making it. Finally, I have!!! And it isn't gonna be for me ... but still have some of the same fabric left & may just make another one. We haven't heard from Donna for a quite a while! Hope she's still around so she can take a look. PS: the inside is a green that matches the stems... TTFN from

You did a lovely job, it's very pretty. If I had made it, I'd want to keep it too. Why is it we tend to sew for others and not ourselves??? I guess I can answer that, it's the pleasure we get in creating something so personal for another. Even so, would be nice to put ourselves higher on the list sometimes.... |

Judy, you need to make a bag for yourself. Your fabric choices are always so vibrant! Reminds me of your photos you had posted in the spring - http://www.flickr.com/photos/heyjudee/sets/72057594133114958/ Patty

Thanks everyone! I gave it away this weekend and the recipient was quite happy when she got it. I'm thinking that I just have to make another one from the left over fabric. Chrys...must be the same fabric as the background is black in this one too. So what are you gonna make with yours? Patty, I bought the fabric last spring just before the Tulip festival. Tulips are my favourite flower since I moved to Ottawa. And every year there is always something tulip related that I see & just have to get. Lynn & Julie, the pattern was from a booklet "Sew & Go Quick-Quilted Totes and Organizers" that came with a Fons & Porter magazine last year...don't remember the date but possibly was May or June 2005 issue. There are a bunch of patterns for quilted totes (duffle bags, purse, change purse, garmet bags, etc.) I had put it aside and finally got around to doing it...like I needed a present and so had to make the time to do it (hee, hee). Your bags are very pretty !!! I think I have the pattern, but have not tried it yet. Did you think it was very hard? I love yours, may have to give it a try. Scrappy |

Scrappy, it isn't a hard bag. There's no zipper but you can put a loop and button if you want. The pattern specifies using prequilted fabric but I quilted my own and made my own binding for the top edges. One thing the pattern suggests is that you can do a French seam when you sew up the sides. Did that when I made the first one and made a note not to do that again. The seam is so thick where the pockets are that it was extremely hard to sew. Give it a try.

The bags are gorgeous, Judy! I was planning to make one for myself as well, but haven't done it yet! I haven't been around too much lately...I'm trying to cut back my time on the computer...It was starting to take over!!! I still check in now and then to catch up on what everyone is doing. I just got back from a two-week visit to Newfoundland. The weather was great and the scenery there is fantabulous! So beautiful! Of course, being a Newfie, I *am* biased. Take care,

Hey Donna...great to see you around. I didn't realize that you were a Newfie. You're lucky that you had good weather & made it back home. Today Nfld is feeling the effects of the latest hurricane. Saw pics on the news and it is not nice weather there! Take care & don't be such a stranger! TTFN from
