I made this outfit for my nieces baby shower tonight.

How do you make clothes that fit a newborn. The last 3 I made all look to big. The 1 I gave in May the baby still can't wear & she is 12 weeks old. It was a sunsuit & the season is almost over! I cut this 1 down a little but it still looks to big. Maybe I will go with preemie patterns.
I still have too put together a book yo go with it.
My husbands family came up with this idea the for last shower. Instead of a card you sign a book for the baby to keeps as a start to their library. The only problem I see with this is when the child outgrows the book it would be hard for me to part with if it is signed.

Barb, that's a really cute outfit! I've had the same problem with fitting though-I wish the pattern companies were a little more on target for newborns! I made my first granddaughter a dress that she was barely able to wear a couple months when she was born and one from another pattern-same size, different company-that she couldn't wear until she was a year old! I dont' know what the answer is except keep trying to find something that fits right and then hang onto that pattern!!
