http://pelkovitch.photosite.com/Album2/DSC02328.html The quilt lies flat and the picture really doesn't do it justice (although the other picture that was better did show a pair of jeans shoved under the bed with a belt still in them.....didn't want to share that one.) My daughter made a quilt this summer to go in her apartment at school (she went from a twin bed to full bed so she needed new bedding). She originally saw something at Bed, Bath and Beyond so she took the idea and designed her own. She appliqued circles onto plain fabric and then put borders around the edges. The outer border is brown velour. I wasn't too sure about the velour, but it turned out really soft although we spent extra time straightening it out for pinning before quilting. The batting is a polyester, so it is very soft, and the backing is made of 20" squares of the leftover fabric from the appliqued circles. The machine quilting was just a simple outline of the circles and then staight lines in the borders. She wanted it very puffy, so this was adequate. Patty

Great quilt...something a college student will love and other students will admire. I love it when you can take an idea from somewhere else and make it your own!

I think it is beautiful. I was trying to look at the circles and I think that is really a cool idea. I would never have thought of doing that. I love the colors too! You guys did a great job!!

I'll be sure to pass on the compliments to Katy. She spent quite a bit of time this summer down in my sewing room and it is a bit lonely now without her there (cutting into fabric, playing her music really loud and asking for technical advice on getting the bobbin back together). The fabric on the quilt at Bed Bath and Beyond had printed circles and then the large toe catcher quilting stitches outlining the circle and then a smaller circle inside. I think Katy liked it for the graphic impact of the circles and because it didn't look like a tradition quilt. It is called a Vanessa quilt (hope this URL works): http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=107430&RN=668&BTSMode=true Patty

It's wonderful. I also look at catalogs for beddings to get ideas. Adva Adva Price
