Laura, Laura, Laura.......I fear you are going to become an unstopable woman with your quilting. However, keep making those cute little outfits along with your jackets.

I love the quilts.

When I did the one for my girlfriend, I had three fabrics but couldn't come up with the 4th. So I went into one of our quilt shops, put the three down on the counter, showed her the pattern and said, I need another green fabric. She went over to the green fabric wall, pulled out one and it was perfect! (the polka dot one). Got to love those people who know their colors and fabric. A definite place I will return to next time I want fabric for quilts!! I think pulling the fabric and colors together is definitely the most difficult part of all!

I love your "quilt # 2"! May I ask where you got the pattern? I too have been a sewer for years, and really had no interest in quilts until recently, and yours is an inspiration!

Helen, the pattern was a freebie off of http://www.freepatterns.com/ under the quilting section. You have to register (for free) but I have found a number of patterns here that I really like. If you can't find it let me know and I can probably scan mine in and email it off to you.

Thank you Laura! I managed to find it - I do think your colour and pattern choices made the quilt, but I hope to give it a try...

I had to do it in colors that would match her house, she's huge into green, and burgandy/pink accents. It was really funny when I'd go to her house, I'd be looking at the walls, trying to figure out where she could put it, and everytime I figured out where it would go, she'd move some pictures or plates in to the spot! She really liked it, I just gave it to her this past week, and tomorrow I'll get to see where she finally ended up putting it!

You are so funny Susie! That was the absolutely FIRST thing I ever quilted (your block) and I didn't even do the quilt part. I had to get my sister to show me how to make it up and I was terrified to even start it. But now that the first one is under the belt, it's not so hard to start the next one and the next one and ......

Ahh Susie once you've successfully put together one little quilt block, there's no turning back. You're more than likely hooked for life.
