Today I went to a Lazyboy furniture store in Ottawa and saw some quilts that are part of a travelling display that are being auctioned off to raise money for breast cancer. All the quilts are donated by individuals and quilting groups across Canada. Each quilt is displayed with a story explaining why the quilt was donated. This is the third year that I have gone to see the travelling display that comes to the Ottawa area. The next three pages in the link below are the ones that I saw today. http://www.thequilt.com/exhibits/gallery.php?exhibit=4,5 I love to see the quilts! There is a lot of work in these! TTFN from

Some members of our quilt guild make at least one and sometimes more every year for this project. I'm thinking of making one next year in memory of my dear mother who died of breast cancer at age 55. Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

All I can say is WOW! What beautiful quilts. What a wonderful idea and great way to run an auction! My personal favorites are Windblown and Square Deal. Thanks Judy for sharing. Patty

Glad you all liked the link. I wish I could have seen all the quilts. Violet, I searched for quilts from Chatham and found two on-line. Very nice but they weren't in the group on display in Ottawa. If you do make one for next year, I hope it makes the display that comes to Ottawa. Patty, my favourites were "Hopscotch Two" and "Autumn in the Mountains". But the story that touched me the most was for "Olive's Girls". TTFN from

Judy.... You just love those vibrant colors. Hopscotch Two almost looks oriental in the black/red/white color scheme - really nice. I love to see such thought and love going into the auction quilts. Patty

Apparently when you donate a quilt to this cause, you don't have any say on where the quilt(s) are displayed or how much money they put on them for the starting bid. But....and it's a big but....all the money earned on the sale of the quilts from that city, goes back to the cancer society in that city, which is great. So, if anyone wants to earn money for their local cancer society, just donate a quilt next year! Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.
