What are you making for fall? I have plans for a pair of stretchy denim pants, Vogue 7940. These are flat front with slant pockets and a back zipper. I also have a few knits that are going to be made up in Vogue 8151 with the cross-over top. I've got one knit that will be made up into a cowl neck pullover and some burnout wool that should be perfect for Vogue 8000. The knits are mostly fall colours of beige, rust brown, etc. I want a jacket too but that will keep me busy for a while. What is everyone else working on. I want to see if we can get a sew along going here. MaryW

I cut out 2 new T shirts for work. I have lots of long sleeve but it is too warm in the kitchen for them. One is a pink rib knit the other is a navy snake skin print.

I keep saying I am going to make a jumper (I have some very nice worsted wool), but for some reason I never do. However, I will be making some blouses and a couple more pairs of pants because I need to update my wardrobe. I did the yearly clearing out and donated all the items which don't fit, I don't wear and don't like anymore. I have gone away from the shapeless clothes to more fitted ones. And, I really want to make another suit. Kate Katherine McCrea

I need to make a formal maternaty gown for DD#2 ( another step), formal gown for DD#3 and a formal gown for myself. Keeping in the guidelines of "other" Mom so as not to cause........ waves. Finish diapers for grandbabies. Then.................IT'S MY TURN!!!!!!!!! Since I have'nt thought that far ahead....... I have NO idea, but whatever it is.......it's gonna be FUN LOL Bekka Bekka

I have picked up a stack of patterns at 99 cent and $1.99 blowout sales over the summer, so I have GOT to get something going! And I had a discount coupon from a quilt show in Seattle that I used on a Folkwear pattern (#201- "Prairie Dress") but I have to grade it up a size or 2 first I'm calling it my "Granny Clampett Dress" My favorite old flannel nightie is nearly to the cleaning rag stage, so that's on the "To do" list. My husband has a corderoy vest he has worn and loved to death, and I have a Kwik Sew pattern now to make a replacement. Now if I could just find the energy to bulldoze out some space in this apartment to work in Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. |

Bekka, It is quinceanera. I found a site that explains it a little bit. http://www.quinceanera-boutique.com/quinceaneratradition.htm I myself have a 13 yr old daughter who has been talking about this a lot. Since we live in a very hispanic part of the country it is almost expected. So much so that they have it listed right there in the church bulletins with the wedding and baptism classes. I am hoping my daughter gets invited to some so that I can find out what they are all about before deciding if it is something we will do for her. I wish you luck with all your sewing. I know I about went crazy last year just making one flowergirl dress. I can't imagine trying to sew 3 formal gowns. Gina

At our ASG sewing retreat last weekend, I cut out a Sandra Betzina Vogue pattern #7747 (view B). I'm using an oriental print polyester that I found at Hancock Fabrics. It has shades of beige, gold and black. There is enough of the darker colors that it won't wash me out. It's totally different than anything in my closet (mostly jewel tones). I'm having to make quite a bit of pattern adjustments to fit. So far I narrowed the shoulders, enlarged the sleeves and cut the sides at a sloping outward angle as I dislike side slits. I'm using a gold rayon for lining. I should finish cutting it out by this weekend. Then I have some plum wool blend tweed that I want to make into a pantsuit using McCall's #2594 (view A). This will kick-start my fall sewing. I still have 3 T-shirts of 100% cotton knit cut out and ready to serge from earlier this summer. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.

I just finished a jacket that I had bought the fabric last fall for. I want to make some long sleeved tshirts and another demin jacket with embroidery on it, plus a quilted tote and some snowboard mitts for the oldest son.

Marty, that sounds gorgeous. I like that pattern but it's too dressy for me. We seldom go out anywhere to dress up. Sometimes the sleeves are a problem for me too, too loose. What I have noticed this fall is a lot of the tops are very flouncy. Lots of ruffles, flounces and low necklines.

Sewed most of the day today and the rest of the house is a disaster but... the grey pants are done (except for the hem, I'll do that by hand later tonight, the crossover top is done (I have fitting issues with that one, it's just too big in the bust for me, took a while to sort out but looks ok now) and a sheer lace tshirt (jalie pattern), I also have a bubble knit tshirt halfway done (neckline and shoulders are finished) so it was a productive day in all. I also found in the stash some dark red corduroy with a bit of stretch... ? jean jacket ? blazer it is definately coat material. Jeanette

Mary, The pantsuit isn't that dressy as I do not intend to add lace to the front. I like the shoulder princess lines of the jacket and the elastic waist pants. I will line it and it will be great for going to church activities, ASG events, shopping, medical appointments, etc. The dress should be perfect to wear next spring. I'm not a jeans and T-shirt type of gal so this will be perfect for me. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.
