I just received my L.L.Bean catalogue for Christmas. Kinda pushing things I think. They want everybody in the mood to buy.

I noticed in Walmart this weekend that they were putting out Christmas decorations right beside the Halloween stuff. Definitely feel like it's to early.

JoAnn's has Christmas stuff on one side of the isle and Halloween stuff on the other...it's like that at Michaels too. I noticed at the BX (base exchange) that all the Christmas stuff had arrived and was waiting to be put on shelves already.
I know Wally World starts Halloween stuff in Aug and then add's Chrsitmas at the end of Aug. 1st of Sept...
geeze louise...Pretty soon Christmas stuff and Halloween stuff will be out during the 4th of July...it's getting ridiculous...:nc:

I don't mind so much at JoAnn, Michael's and other craft stores because it does take time to make stuff.
I know... I know... a lot of it is already assembled decorations, but still.
Other stores -- I don't expect to go into until after the holidays. I'm not doing many gifts this year and the only decorating will be my mother-in-law's nut crackers. I don't think we brought the rest of our Xmas stuff when we moved.

No silly Jan,
They are not nutcrackers for cracking nuts. Like the ballet nutcrackers.
If they worked -- and my girls assured me years ago they don't -- you would put the nut in their big mouths and lift a lever that closes the mouth and cracks the nuts.
She started collecting them when she lived in Germany.

oooooooh,
but I thought the point of the ballet Nutcracker was that he COULD chomp them in his mouth...
I always preferred the Steadfast Tin Soldier.

Well, I'm sure some of them work but my girls said Grandma's don't.
I didn't ask them how they knew that. I thought it best not to know.

Yep Christmas is in the stores. I don't like to see it this early, by the time the season rolls around I am truly sick of it.

Halloween is still six weeks away and autum hasn't even arrived here in Oklahoma yet but Hobby Lobby yas all of their Halloween and autum merchandise marked down 50%. Geez Louise, I'm the same way. I've been seeing Christmas fabric since July in Hancock Fabrics. And I'm the same way, by the time Christmas gets here, I'm more than ready for it to be over and done with. Then, at Christmas time, they are putting out the Valentine merchandise already.

With the baby coming at THanksgiving, I'm trying to get all my Christmas shopping done by Halloween. I know, I'm ambitious.

Let's forward this thread to the marketing survey companies. Also the politicians. According to both - they need to get the message out EARLY. I'm wondering if they even think of the fact that in the case of marketing, people get tired of early stuff real fast. I tend to ignore it and spite the big box stores by making my own stuff or ordering online. Christmas is the time that all the stores make the most profit, so they start early.

Many many moons ago, the first year I started working, I had all my Christmas presents purchased by Oct. 31. That was the first and last time I did that! The time til Dec. 25 rolled around was so boring. I hated shopping as I had no one to buy for. Had no Christmas spirit either. :bluesad:

Yeah, I don't normally either, but this year...... I'm just thinking that shopping with a newborn and two toddlers will not be fun.
Of course, I might want to just to get out of the house.
