Here's one more reason to buy from a dealer.
I finally unpacked my sewing machine and THE FEET ARE GONE.
I knew I shouldn't have trusted the movers with them.
So I called the dealer where I got both my sewing machine and serger and not only did she start boxing up the ones I can't live with out -- button hole foot and blind hemmer (the standard, zipper and darning feet were still there and I don't need the others) to mail out to me she was so sweet and understood my distress.

The good news is both machines are working fine.

And I can sew now. It has been three horrible weeks without.

Glad you can get back to sewing Dorothy!! Too bad about your feet but at least your dealer is sympathetic!!

No, Jan
I'm going to finish the thing -- about 3.75 skeins to go.
When I finish it I will tell you what it is. Once it is off the needles I'll be able to figure it out.

When we've moved the last few times my portable machines and main sewing box traveled with ME in MY CAR (or pick-up). I don't trust ANYONE! with them, not even dh!!! (hmmm ... maybe especially DH!!), he just doesn't understand. I will say he's getting better at the understanding thing, he set up my table pretty quick after we moved this time!

I'm with you Keljo. When I move in about 2 years, my machines and all their accessories are going in the vehicle I travel in and I will personally pack them myself. My machines, my china and my crystal are the items I will personally pack and take with me in my vehicle. There's no way I'm trusting those things to movers or even dh and friends as they load and unload a moving van.

Right until the last minute I planned on taking the machines in the car with me but the movers were so good and careful with our stuff -- we were there the whole time.
And I had to have a television in the car with me -- We chose the day we moved by the day we could have TV/phone/internet service hooked up because I have to have the internet and phone to work.
And I had to have the dog with me.
And I have a very small car.
So had them take the machines in the truck.
Really, for all the moving issues we could have had, this is small. But distressing.
I'm just so glad I have a great place to turn -- although it is a bit farther from home now -- when I have issues with my machines.

Another thing I always have travel with me is my stereo! I am very particular about my music, I even have a hard time letting anyone use it!, so my CD's, record albums & 45's, cassettes, and stereo, mp3 player, portable players, etc., also all travel with me. The last time I had to go by myself because of all my stuff! The records did have to take the U-Haul, but not the player! Yeah, I still listen to records, I can't afford to buy the gadget to convert them to CD yet, but one day!

I took a journey to High Acres to check to make sure Dorothy hadn't become a pod person.

Dorothy made me coffee, showed me all her gorgeous jackets, showed me the Lucy sweater (some kind of mail order business in the UK), let me sew on her Pfaff (to convert me to the other side - I'm looking now for replacing my 13 yr old machine before the motor burns out) and best of all she is one of the sweetest people around.

I can't believe there was not ONE QUILT IN THE ABODE!
But then again, her fingers are so busy with everything else, including that mystery knitting project, that I don't think she needs anything to keep her from being bored.

Hopefully she will get some new feet soon!

Stumpy the pod person.
The two feet I had to order from the dealer came yesterday -- that was fast, two days -- and much to my surprise the button hole foot is larger than the one I lost so I can use it for bigger buttons.
Also, Patty, they are having a big demo night and sale for new products. I think it is on a meeting night for me so I can't go but I can get you the information if you call. You could probably see that new quilter thing.

Dorothy you didn't threaten the movers enough, they just don't get it, I usually bring them around by telling them my precious bernina is worth more than my DH's flat screen Sony tv, they are in shock after that, (growling and lurking helps too:cool: ) I'm glad you have your feet back!!! I'd have cried if they lost mine.
