My kids are just over a month back into school here and there's already several bugs going around. Several of DS's friends have been sick. Some said it was the flu, a couple others had strep. I've seen several kids at school sneezing or coughing their heads off. A few more throwing up and being sent home.
Hubby was sick a couple of days ago, and now me. I just feel yuckie and ache all over.
I thought it was a little early in the year for all these bugs to be going around here. :nervous:

Here in Canada last week, I heard a health warning about a flu bug that is hitting whole communities in US. I can't remember what area but believe it was eastern area - was part of a travel alert. Was not thought to be serious.
I think most children get 'something' when they mix in groups in school. I wonder if teachers ever become immune. As a peds nurse for many years, I practically never get any sort of cold (do have chronic non draining sinutitis) no matter how many and how serious ones are going around. I think, in my early career where I worked in many parts of Canada, I got everything going and built up immunities.
I hope those with strep throat are being medically supervised as side effects of strep can be serious.

In Aug. when my husband and I went to the concert in Jacksonville, I managed to get the Norwalk virus, somewhere. (ya know...like on the cruise ships..) I was sick and in the bathroom for 2 wks. (yep..every time I ate, it came back to haunt me...so I quit eating and wound up in the ER hooked up to an i.v.) I got some meds and it took another 10 days to feel better. I'm just now getting to feel like normal. (and I'm flying to my sisters on the 27th...so help me I'm going sick or not...)
They tested me for hepititis first. (here in FL during the HOT season...hahahahaha...Apr-Nov. we have a LOT of hepititis. People swim in the ponds and streams, swallow the water and then pass it around in school, to families, everyone.) I could have told the Dr. I didn't have hepititis, but they had a hard time keeping people straight in the ER that night...kept calling me Mrs. Keller...okie...but Mrs. Keller had a broken arm and was screaming. I was just sitting there, white as a ghost (the sheets were blue, NOT MY color at all...made me look REALLY pale) trying not to run to the bathroom. (and lose my 'spot' with the Dr.)
So I refuse to be sick again this yr......!:bolt:

Bama sorry you are feeling ill - the beginning of term with new intake is when it hits...
When my daughter went to Uni last year she came down with "Freshers Flu" which is basically - this is a whole bunch of new people you are living with who don't know basic hygeine so you have to try harder.....:bolt:

WOW, I feel bad for everyone who is getting sick.. I wish you all a fast recovery.

I am blessed that none of my children or other family have come down with anything thus far... but I try to do my best to prevent anything like the above.

Rabbi Burns
the famous Scottish Jew.

The Irish are wonderful - love 'em to bits - it would be in Northern Ireland you might think twice about wearing orange.
